The team is now 4 million under the cap. McKinney and Fulton are likely next. Wouldn't be surprised to see Duke Johnson and possibly Cooks cut as well depending on what happens with Watson

The team had the Chiefs down 24-0 on purely fluky circumstances. They were nowhere near as good as the Chiefs and barely beat Buffalo after Buffalo messed up in the second half.

All of the advanced statistics have been saying for years the Texans weren't as good as the record was saying. It's why I was always conflicted about Obrien. I saw a coach with a terrible offense, terrible game management, terrible roster decisions but somehow had his guys playing hard to the last second and outpeforming their talent. In retrospect I think that was more about the character of the best players than it was about anything OBrien did.

“Hey everyone, look at how we did right by JJ, focus on how good of us that is and not the fact that we are still actively burning this franchise to the ground, we can look at that later”

I got no problem with JJ leaving, and thank him for everything he left on field and the things he did off the field.

But, couldn't you ask him where he wanted to go and at least get something for him? Hell a 3rd or 4th would have been better than nothing.

Good luck where ever you end up JJ.

Should be a fun off-season for the Texans.

If JJ had anything left in the tank, the defense would've been better. If the defense was better, the Texans would've won more games. The Texans win more games, Deshaun isn't tweeting subliminal rap lyrics and running trade scenarios through Adam Schefter. This whole thing is JJ's fault lol

I see the complaints. What teams had the caproom to trade for him?

We'll always be left wondering if there is a timeline where JJ doesn't get or ask for his release.

If the Texans hadn't imploded, does JJ play out his deal this year in one final reach for a ring?

Maybe even sign a new, smaller extension?

Not sure if sarcastic or not but JJ is still one of the most double teamed player in the league. Only so much he can do when the players beside him can't make up for it.

Letting BOB and Watt go are smart moves, the other two I agree

My bad. I'm not seeing/thinking straight. I blame it on the freezing weather.

I'm thinking Steelers to play with his brothers, might be their only chance to ever do that.

No one was going to trade you assets for the right to pay him at $17MM. His new contract, wherever he goes, will be for far less. He was not tradable.

I used to joke with my friend and say
Married woman in Houston: Honey a man came up to me and wants to sleep with me.
Husband: Who? Who is it? I'll kick his ass.
    Wife: JJ Watt
Husband: JJ? Well why didn't you say so? Is he picking you up or do I need to leave for a while?
