I'm by no means a capologist - but I believe releasing JJ Watt is not only doing right by him (so he can choose his next team) - but I have to believe the cap relief is > draft compensation (as I doubt anyone was going to offer a premium pick). Not that any sane free agent is going to sign here - but they had cap issues so this helps address it.
Cal should never speak again to the media. Never. This was always the most likely scenario with JJ. It's going to be funny to listen to media members pretend like this was a devastating indictment of the organization today when they've been saying for months this was going to happen.
If they give up Watt and Wattson. They don’t have to worry about fans coming back after the pandemic.
Freeing to know I won't have any pause about ignoring this team from now until they deserve attention again which, judging by the lat 20 years, may never happen! JJ was obviously past his prime, but some athletes mean more to their teams and cities than their production indicates. That he wanted out speaks to the level of dysfunction in this organization. I bet he ends up in the NFC North.
If you had told me 12 months ago that BOB, Hop, Watt, and Watson would all be gone in a year I'd tell you that you were out of your ****ing mind.
He actually thinks Trevor wouldn't want out like Deshaun after 3 years due to the incompetence and charlatans running things. I don't know who is more tonedeaf cal or the contrarians who defend this sh*tshow. Texans can't have a normal rebuild until the "patriotsway" is torched. DET, Kansas City they all learned
I just..... Can't even. This franchise.... How this organization was run into the ground so quickly. After waiting forever to get off the waiting list for season tickets.... Finally received the call last fall... But with zero interest to purchase them now. They've killed my passion....
Since taking over, Cal has gotten rid of Clowney, Nuk, JJ and likely DW4. So far we have Jacob Martin, David Johnson and Ross Blacklock to show for it.
Nightmare. So many questions and rumors swirling...if money is green everywhere, why would I choose to be here? Maybe because I'm not as good as the other guys who say no to being here, so I get more playing time. Maybe because I'm from Houston and feel connected to the city. Aside from that, it's a nightmare.
Narrator in 2023: "The Texans were indeed an ahole franchise, that allowed holier than thou a-holes burn the franchise to the ground under the disguise of culture"
i don't even know what to say. We saw it coming but it still stings. I've never cared less about any one of 'my' teams in sport, ever.
Chiefs Bucs/Rams/Packers Bills Ravens/Browns/Seahawks Dolphins/Colts/Saints/Steelers 49ers/Titans ...or something like that.
