Nikki Haley is smarter than clowns like Ted Cruz, but she's still not that smart. Ben Sasse is the one with the best odds at beating Trump in the primary because he created distance the earliest and is likely working behind closed doors to secure every damn corporate pac known to man. Haley has probably already lost out to Sasse and will have no leg to stand on in the primaries as others running against Trump will call her out as being a Trump lackey with no principles. Also you think the party is split now.... haha.... wait till the primaries when it's really the cult of Trump vs the leading candidate running against him. Mitch McConnell obviously knows what I know which is why he's signaled for weeks that they all need to drop him by impeaching him. LMAO Ben Sasse? He would get wiped in a primary against Trump. Trump is the single most popular person in the party by leaps and bounds. Trump would skip golf and big macs for a chance to run in a primary against Sasse.
Oh I think Trump will trounce him in the primary for sure, but there will be a Ben Sasse or two running against him, and it's going to be a sh$t show. That's my only point. Haley will have to fall in line behind Trump. It's only going to be that a few people like Sasse run against him as a "real" conservative. The only question will be if they have enough money from corporate pacs, and the ability to get FoxNews to give them decent coverage to know whether they'll last past super Tuesday. But no Trump would destroy Sasse, and after Super Tuesday he'd likely have to fold. I'm talking mostly the run up to Iowa... which starts sooner than you'd think. Wouldn't be surprised if by Christmas Trump is already holding rallies, and declaring himself the winner which will force the primary season to start even earlier. Haley can't really back away from Trump now even though she might try, and she also won't be able to get an endorsement because her last name isn't Trump... unless she marries him after Melania files.
I *think* Haley intended to try to be Trump's successor but now thinks he will run again so she's trying to shift to block him out. Not because it will work, but because if it doesn't work she has no path. So this is what she's trying to do.
Yeah I agree. She was trying to be the heir apparent before or run Pence out as 2020 running mate (something Trump should have done), and now is trying to shift, but I think it's too late. She's now got his stink all over her. She's likely going to find that she's now irrelevant, and will then have to go back to kissing his ass. Does anyone really want to bet against me if we are betting whether or not she ends up going right back to him?
People like Nicki Hally their entire lives have been surrounded by "yes men and women" and are shielded by genuine push back of their rhetoric. Yeah I think you are right. She's probably feeling pretty desperate honestly. She got out relatively early in the administration. She got in to get his anointing oil poured on her and then got out to try to avoid his sins. Then she tried to tip toe in his acid and venom as he riled up his base to be affiliated without diving in. She's been running this campaign for years now to try to be the "Trump liked her but she's not a Trump stooge" candidate that could beat out the rest of the nutjobs. One mistake! She didn't anticipate needing to compete against him lol.
The upside to Trump is it is a real opportunity to get to see people's true colors. If we never had Trump, we would have never gotten to see the difference between a guy like Romney and Haley.
Watching the GOP walking the fine line between the crazies in their party and the interests of the rich guys that want to control them has been interesting to say the least.
