In 1992, 79-year-old Stella Liebeck bought a cup of takeout coffee at a McDonald's drive-thru in Albuquerque and spilled it on her lap.
She sued McDonald's and a jury awarded her nearly $3 million in punitive damages for the burns she suffered.

Gorilla Glue worked much better than advertised. If GG advertised it's true adhesive capability, Miss Brown would not have used the glue. She would have opted for elmers.

 

I was reading the twitter comments and wow...

People were actually blaming GG. Can't tell what is a parody and what isn't anymore.

 

I've been wanting to debate this incident -- none of this happens if those cops didn't shoot Harambe.

 

Jonathan Turley called the case "a meaningful and worthy lawsuit".[6]

 

At least coffee shouldn't cause 3rd degree burns.

 

At least she wasn't dumb enough to use JB Weld.

 

I don't get why anyone would think putting glue in your hair as a replacement for hair product would be a good idea, its friggin glue......SMH

 

There is a big difference between the Gorilla Glue case and the McDonald's coffee case. Coffee is meant to be drunk and can be hot. The temperature of food and beverages has been a matter of regulation so there was a legitimate argument for regarding whether the temperature of the coffee from a restaurant is safe.

Gorilla Glue is clearly not a hair care product and not meant to be used as such. I'm not going to say that absolutely there is no case here as certainly a clever lawyer might be able to frame it as such but if manufacturers are going to be held to safety standards for uses that are not meant for their products it's going to be a real mess.

I was wondering if it was a case of getting the wrong product or did she know she was using GG.

It still does not make much sense since they are not sold anywhere near each other.

Sorry - you're too late. Social media stupidity is here to stay. Just take a look at the Reddit group Whatcouldgowrong. But I'm with you - I simply cannot work up any compassion for someone who does something this stupid.

 

Yeah I saw this. It's one thing to get substitute hair care products from your grocery aisle and quite another to to a hardware or home improvement aisle to get hair care products. It's an attempt to dodge the consequences from an irresponsible and moronic decision.
