I wish one day in our future we just won't care. It does seem like millennials are far less responsive to symbolic patriotic gestures than gen x and boomers so it really might change for the better. Gen Xers and Boomers really dig the empty symbolic patriotic platitudes.

Play the national anthem at international events where the national team is playing... Olympics, World Cup, etc...
Cuban is wrong a lot but he does at least always have interesting ideas. I also think he’s the one NBA owner who the right will not immediately attack for something like this although I’m sure FoxNews is already juicing up the outrage machine regardless and somehow making this about BLM and Lebron James.

Good decision by Cuban. Like most other folks, I didn't know (and didn't care) that the Mavs had already been doing this since the start of the season. I'd like to see this extended to all pro and college sports. Hell, I would also like to see "God Bless America" eliminated from MLB games. There is no need to play the national anthem before every US domestic sporting event. It's a silly tradition nowadays, and we don't need such symbolic gestures shoved in our faces all the time. Just announce the starting lineups or whatever and then start the game. I'm OK with playing the anthem at international events (Olympics, World Cup, etc). There are ways to show patriotism that don't involve symbolic gestures. Many decent folks already do this as part of their day-to-day lives.

The national anthem has no place in sports. If anything it sullies it (the anthem). Sports? It's just ****ing sports. Play the national anthem when you start court or at the DMV or something, lulz. Sports? Seriously? This isn't the ****ing Olympics.
