Deadass chose an expiring contract over having to pay a young up and coming star some money. ‍♂️

Yes, you can match his offer. But he can (and likely will) sign a large offer sheet somewhere and we won't match it.

You keep him and do exactly what the rockets are doing with dipo. And not settle for a measly late bucks pick

Is there any reason to go into the tax if we aren't going to compete?

Tilman would tell you that there isn't any reason to go into the tax ever with or without a championship contender.

    none whatsoever.

this team needs to shed Wall, Vic, Ego, PJ, House, Boogie and see which one of the young guys will stick with Wood, hopefully hit a home run in the draft and then fill in with the vet guys who will be the most efficient with THAT nucleus.

Being a .500 team up against the cap is the worst place to be. I'd even argue we would be just as competitive as we have been sans the guys named above and instead with Porter Jr, Tate, Wood, Martin Jr and anyone else on the current Vipers team getting those minutes and developing.

This decision hurts even more since we let Hartenstein go for nothing last year.

Having another big on the bench would have come in handy when Hernangomez was going off last night.

Y'all need to stop... Jarett Allen is a rotational piece on a good team... He's okay.. Nothing for this to be a multi-page thread...

Positive light in this is that we actually have a direction.... cost savings...

second to that is rebuilding on the fly and I hope we are smart enough to do that....

    Take bad contracts for assets
    Play young players
    Add to the scouting department
Hopefully hit at a high percentage in the draft
Be ready to pounce with assets when a star becomes available

We would've been way better off with the Simmons deal or Levert and Allen deal. If you decided to cash those for picks it would've been better than Nets picks and dipo.

The expiring contract that teams value is a myth. We saw that first hand with Battier, nobody offered us **** for him and he walked away to a contender.

Disagree....he is a starting caliber nba center. What you’re saying perfectly describes Boogie Cousins.

Right now the deal I am looking at is TPrince and JAllen for:

    2022 Mil Unprotected 1st
    10m Expiring
    10m TE

If Rafael doesn't turn those last two bullets into something juicy, I think this is my least favorite part of the deal. JA isn't a perfect fit here, but a rental would have been nice to see. I don't think Wood can play the 4, but damn I would have been intrigued to test it out with JA just for fun.

Wait... so Cleveland reverses the Allen trade they just made with us, and gives us Prince, too? Is this because they feel guilty or something?

You misread. He is talking about the deal we made with Cleveland. We already gave them Prince with Allen which is why this deal was soo bad. We shoulda been able to get way more than 1 first round pick for them.

Tillman has never let us use a TE since he bought the team. That won't change now. Get ready for that to become useless.

Boogie isn't even a rotational piece on a bad team.. So nah wrong simile!... I don't see Allen as a bona fide starter... Sure he's cool to throw out there when your team stinks but he couldn't beat out this corpse of Deandre Jordan we're seeing on a contender... You would think he would've been perfect on the Nets...

That's because the relationship with the top guys and veteran presence trumps a 22 year old allen looking for a huge contract. There's a reason why the nets did try to extend him. They're just not willing to go break the bank for him and nor should they. beating out Dj has 0 to do with it. Allen is certainly a starter on plenty of teams and thats clearly evident again as posted earlier when he consistently is productive when given the opportunity

Understandable why folks would be intrigued... But he does what most found lengthy athletic bigs do nowadays... Get a few highlight reel plays, a few blocks , maybe a few double digit rebound games..... All while having defensive lapses, being lost in offensive sets, and set illegal screens to pickup silly fouls... They're not dependable in building a team... That's why Jaxson Hayes has been glued to the bench in NO... It's cute the 1st couple years when your team stinks, but for some reason they don't evolve much
