From what we're seeing, the only way to get to these GOP reps is via criminal charges. They're crooks and won't keep their hand out of the cookie jar unless they're slapped. Once they start going to court and jail, they will straighten their act up.

Both of her statements are true. They were evacuated by Capitol Police. No insurrectionists ever stormed their hallway (or even the building they were in). They were evacuated as a precaution before the nearby Capitol building was stormed. It is wrong that people assaulted the Capitol Police. That isn't who we are (as Americans). January 6 was insane.

The capital building was last breached by the English. The last evacuation, I would assume was during 911. I would not have taken an evacuation likely with that context and each person imagination of the threat to themselves is personal. The implication is it wasn’t a big deal (when in fact no one knew how big it was during the event and so you are left with only your thoughts and imagination).

I’m also not sure why she deleted those old tweets. They were indeed accurate.

They shouldn't think twice about saying "Not only no, but hell no!". Do the food trucks handing out food to law abiding citizens have an organic only line for those who want the best, and only the best? I mean, give me a break here. This is coddling a white criminal and giving him the "special treatment.". Who gives a damn what he wants? I sure don't. If he wants to starve then let him. It's his choice. This sounds like something they would do for Ivanka Trump if and when she ever gets her hands caught in the cookie jar. What a crock of BS!

Funny, but in my 20 years in the military I never saw an organic food option at the chow hall. Imagine the people paid to serve our country getting less than those out to destroy our country.

 

When you evacuate a building because of a threat somewhere nearby but not directly impacting the building at the moment (and possibly never impacting the building) that is a precaution.

The last breach of the Capital complex was in 2018 when protesters took over the Hart Senate building to oppose the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court (for some reason, that interference with the constitutional work of Congress to elevate someone to a new office of national importance was okay with the media). For the Capitol building itself, on July 24, 1998, Russell Eugene Weston, Jr. burst into the Capitol and opened fire, killing two Capitol Police officers, Jacob Chestnut and John Gibson. Previous to that there was a bombing outside Robert Byrd's office, a bombing by the Weather Underground, a shooting in the House chamber itself by Puerto Rican nationalists in 1954 and German bombing of the Senate trying to keep America out of WWI.

As for the tweets, I'm sure she deleted them because AOC has a much bigger and more rabid social media following than she does, so any tweets that might make AOC look bad are probably going to be more trouble than they are worth.

Everyone thinks they are the good guys. This is just a simple denialist reaction to finding out that they are actually in a violent cult. The problem is normally there would be a moment of clarity, and we'd be able to slowly bring those people back into civilization. 40% of America will still be lied to and still be radicalized by Fox, Facebook, etc. and nothing is going to change even with this equivalent of the Branch Davidian Compound already burning to the ground.

We are going to have to have a moment where an even bigger Branch Davidian Compound burns. I hate to say this but we are in for more bloodshed and more autocratic takeover attempts of government.

To me, it looks like we're a (fractured) family living near Buffalo Bayou in SW Houston. We've had a bad flood, after several smaller ones. We're going to redo the sheetrock, buy some new furniture, replace the ruined car. But we aren't going to raise the house or move to a safer, higher neighborhood. That's just way too much trouble, too expensive, and we can't get our arguing family to agree to a solid plan anyway. We're just going to hope that flood was "once in a lifetime" even though they've been happening more and more frequently. And as things settle down for a few months, we'll exhale and hope everything's going to be okay.
