If Dipo cant shoot, then Simmons is clearly so much better. He was always better than Dipo even if Dipo didnt suck IMO but this should cement it for the naysayers.
Lol c'mon Vic...you're a combo guard so having to switch between being a SG and PG should already be a given. I guess we're NOT getting Herro back for Vic like some on here stated weeks back? lol
Any chance those are the same people who thought the Rockets would/could get the 3rd or 8th pick for Westbrook?
My point is that Oladipo was, earlier in his career, a star (twice made the All-Star team). A #1 option on a good team. Now he's recovering from being injured for the better half of two seasons. But calling him "stupid" is pretty derogatory - I don't think he lost his BBIQ. I don't know whether he'll be able to return to where he was a couple of years ago, but he's 28 and it's not out of the question. Gordon is not on any sort of trajectory to become a star. He's not particularly close to being voted an all star and his scoring has dropped for 3 years straight. He's not really " much cheaper" - you'd be paying $18.1m this year and $16.4m next season for an "ok" guy. And, he's injured for the next month with a severe ankle sprain. He's not a perfect fit. I agree we have too many two guards and not enough bigs. But I'm not offloading a good 2 for a meh 3/4. We can do better.
Dipo is deserving of "stupid" label when it's his decision making and shot selection that was discussed. He has been stupid on the court, taking inefficient and off balanced shots while scattershoting passes all over the place if he can even stay on his feet while dribbling. If Rockets ever have the opportunity to acquire the much cheaper contract, younger, better finisher, better rebounder, better ball handler, better passer, better rim protector and better system FIT in Aaron Gordon, you will see how wrong you are on this point.
I hope for your sake that we never get the opportunity. That way you can keep pining for a Terrence Jones / Mo Taylor caliber forward who you think has the "potential" to develop into a star level player in our system, instead of being forced to live with the mediocre, inefficient reality. If I'm trading assets for a PF, at least get me a guy who's got Luis Scola level potential.
LOL You keep pining for PF's with the wrong skillset. Like Silas keeps preaching, defense first. And neither TJones (seriously?) OR Mo Taylor are what I'd call stars and neither are as good as Aaron Gordon. Especially on this particular Rockets team.
Yikes. Embarrassing posts in here. Talk about jumping the gun. This guy is coming off a major injury. Be patient. If you have watched closely, you can see flashes of his former self. The guy has serious game. Give it some time. We need him to be balling by March. NO OLADIPO INJURIES PLEASE.
Depends what Oladipo you are getting. I'd imagine they will be watching very closely in the coming weeks leading up to the trade deadline. They have this thing called perspective I'd imagine, unlike most of Clutchfans.
I just said meant in terms of potential value - in Scola's case, a multi-year starter and very solid player who was just under all-star level production. Scola was absolutely a rock for those teams. I could have mentioned Otis Thorpe as a defensive guy, but my guess is that was before your fandom (and they don't make them like OT anymore).
I don't know how I would guess the length of time you've been a fan except for your join date. OT left the team in 94 and you didn't join until 06. I was worried my Mo Taylor reference would require you to google his name. LOL
CF or Clutchcity.net as it was called previously was not around until 1999. So using your logic, every member of CF was not a fan when OT played amirite?
