Traditional numbers are pretty damn good. Variety of advanced numbers have him in the 20-30 range so far this year.

I would say on a very strong trajectory to be considered superstar level possibly as early as next season with another jump. But not quite there yet.

Sustained elite production and a jump closer to top 10-15 in impact stats is generally what I would consider “superstar” level.

You're missing the point. The poll doesn't prove one way or the other whether Christian Wood is a superstar. As others and I have noted, there is no set definition for what that means, so people can see it in different ways. But it does demonstrate that you calling someone else a contrarian for not agreeing with your superstar criteria is pretty stupid and self-centered.

I never called Wood a superstar, I said he was performing at the level of those superstars.

The same criteria other superstar bigs have been held to in the past.

YOU made this subjective with the poll.

    Way to slice that salami.

I see you Ted "duh-vasa" Cruz.

I think he's an ideal 3rd option on a team sort of like Klay. Klay can't dribble, pass or really elevate his teammates, but he's great at the role he fills in for the Warriors when healthy. Wood doesn't necessarily elevate his teammates to be better than their individual selves but he's great at the role he fills when healthy. Extremely efficient on offense. Competent on defense with room to improve.

I'm not sure why "three metrics" automatically equal superstar.

What about consistency? What about doing it for at least a full season before labeling him a superstar.

You'll have to take this up with ESPN, NBA, FOX and all the other media pundits.

The fact that only 5 have achieved this production this season, seems the bar is set fairly high and not arbitrarily.

The subjectivity is due to the word 'superstar's being emphasized rather than the validity of the metrics.

Durv could have easily used superstar caliber/level of production which was the original discussion point, but it was not vague enough or inciteful enough.

Are they calling Woods a superstar? Or did they put up a snapshot graphic?

At any rate the media of CF has resoundingly voted no.

There may be only 5 true SUPERstars in NBA, regardless of position.

Ok, let's assume he's the 4th or 5th best center/PF/big man - that doesn't really qualify as superstar/all nba caliber guy in a perimeter dominated league. All star maybe?

We were discussing the very best bigs in NBA.

Very specific topic, duh decided to muddy up the waters with his poll.

Overzealous fans pressuring Wood to play at a superstar level on social media likely caused him to press for big numbers resulting in the severe - possibly season ending and career defining injury. As Rocket fans we can only hope and pray that these homers haven't ruined the blossoming career of a young star player and that we are able to see him play at a high level once again this season.

I agree, Durvasa is likely directly responsible for Wood's injury. This has gone too far.

You said "everyone else" uses the 20/10/55 numeric cutoffs as criteria for defining what a superstar big man is:

If that's "everyone else's" criteria, then they would agree with you that Wood was playing at a superstar level prior to injury, which is exactly the poll question I posed in this thread. Now, do you want to argue that the results of the poll is just because this forum is full of Wood haters, and the folks over at ESPN would surely have a higher opinion of Christian Wood and their answer to the poll question would be overwhelmingly affirmative? Go ahead and make that case while I sit back and laugh at you.

Not at all, I used those metrics from media sites.

That's why i directed you to go to the source but you wanted to put your hand on the scale instead with a poll to avoid arguing the evidence provided.

    Tsk, tsk.

    You bad duh-vasa you.

Shall we censure you for your trickiness?

Kid is driven to be the best. His goal in 2020 was to go to a winning team.

    And make 2021 All Star.

Not just speaking it into existence like some, he has worked his tail off.
