By "superstar", let's just say roughly on the same level as players like Giannis, Jokic, and Embiid.

Curious what other Rockets fans think.

For those answering, note that Christian Wood was averaging 20+ ppg, 10+ rpg, and over 55% from field. Those look like superstar numbers, right?

No... primarily because he is an afterthought in our offense ....

Now he will not be a thought at all thanks to Keith Jones incompetence...

true story,... in my high school days I had a season with fresh low tops... rolled my ankle twice ... My pops (not a paid physician or a doctor and never stayed at a holiday inn) tells me...

Rest up and I’m going to the mall tomorrow to get you some high tops... guess what... I never rolled my ankle the rest of my career. Wow

    What does superstar really mean?

It’s kind of like #1 starter in baseball — by definition, there’s ~30 of them, but there’s probably only 5-10 true “aces”.

For what it’s worth, he was playing like the #1 or #2 best player on a playoff caliber team. I don’t know if that’s a superstar, but it’s something.

Durv is using word "superstar" to discredit Wood's accomplishments.

Trying to use the word to distract from his actual production that is on par with similar performing "superstars" in NBA.

It is ludicrous and hilarious at same time.

Star, #2 borderline #1 player on a team, yes. Superstar, there are only 3-5 of those in the NBA at any given time.

Superstar is a hard term to pin down, agreed. Which is why I said, in the first post, "roughly on the same level as Giannis, Embiid, and Jokic". Assuming you'd agree those players on a "superstar" tier. Would you put Wood on that level as well, in terms of what he was producing before last game?

Make your own decision. If you were to ask me, ....than I would say no. He wasnt. But his impact is up there with other dude's at his position, that is undeniable.

Simply put, I dont think he'll ever be good enough to create his own shot and create shots for others at that level. He's always gonna need guys to feed him the rock. And there isnt anything wrong with that. So him being a super star...., no I dont see it. But being a top 20 player in the league, yes I think I can see it. Second best player on a championship squad......maybe, MAYBE.

I also want to say that the dude also does seem to have injury issues as well. So that...is....concerning.

It unbelievable that a Rockets fan site is trying minimize one of our own players.

You are a great fan durv, your agenda is more important than your fandom.

Giannis gets it done defensively. Jokic gets it done as a playmaker. Embiid is a great blend of offense and defense.

Wood is nowhere near any of those guys.

His offensive stats were very efficient and a good volume .

but to be a superstar you’ve got to do more than that , especially for more than 20 games .

otherwise anyone could play at a “superstar” level any given night .

he’s not a threat that other teams extensively plan around and is dominant anyways . He is a bit hit or miss on D . A little too turnover prone .

    he’s a star . But not a superstar yet . That’s reserved for true top 10-15 guys

Imagine what Wood could have produced if Silas would feature him more or if he had a few more touches than Wall, Dipo or EGo.

Or if Harden was feeding him.

@durvasa has you all in conniptions with his word, SUPERstar.

Has Wood done enough to be an All Star is the better question.

There are an awful lot of Patriots in here being led to a predetermined conclusion.

Durv is manipulating all of you because he was unable to argue the merits of his stance with me.
