It was actually funny yesterday when Kurucs got pulled out like a minute after he replaced Wood and you could tell how disappointed he was that he sucks so bad lol
I saw one while driving through New Mexico two years ago. It would not surprise me if it is still there.
Giannis averages 6 assists a game, Jokic at 8. Does Wood even know how to make a pass. The three people you named have Wood level effiency and production while being the main shot creater and gets constantly double teamed or even triple teamed. Does Wood know how to even pass out of double teams? All three people you named can post up down low and bully most centers I have yet to see Wood secure a low post position because of how skinny he is.
Not one of them is shooting 42% from 3 like Wood either. What are you not getting? Are the stats they cited confusing you? *Edit: Embiid also shooting 42% from 3 now.
Harsh, but fair questions. I feel like Wood is still catching defenses by surprise. He is going to have to learn to adapt once teams figure out how to take away what he does best.
Wood has been a willing passer and making good reads on occasion. Don't think he will ever average 5+ assists, but he should be able to get 3-4 if he is more involved throughout the play.
Giannis passes better, but he plays with better players. Overall, it cancels out. I think Wood has the potential to play better with this team, he just got here. You're right about post-ups, but I like Wood's ability to hit 3s more than I like Giannis posting up. It also doesn't mean Wood can't post-up. He's not shy around the paint, we just don't run plays for that which is an organizational situation more than Wood's skillset.
I was with you until that last part. Just being able to post up doesn't make them better players. That goes both ways. Wood's frame allows him to do other things they can't offensively (except Giannis), like the pump fake and blow-by he uses all the time.
Hope Cousins can give 15/9 while Wood is out. Even the Cousins haters have to cheer him on it's for the good of the playoffs. He has good Sam Perkins potential, Cousins does.
But it's the epitome of a strawman argument. Neither Jokic or Giannis have been elite shooting 42% from 3 either. Passing has never been the criteria, or even A criteria, that defines a big as great. What's the next argument, Wood doesnt have an All Star? Hasnt been DPOY? Hasn't put up numbers for entire season?
Yep! Wood is 80% at the rim. 42% from 3P. He is elite in both areas that matter most in modern NBA offense.
