I was not the 1st labelling me as something and attacking my political positions and I did not attack progressives when I say ya'll it's for specific people who are always labeling somebody to belittle them, unlike those people I don't think just because you think politically some way you are an other. And its that othering that is trumper like. You have been in here long enough to know I have great respect for AOC but she sometimes gets full of herself IMO and I comment accordingly. If I was calling out AOC I would have had a different title, when I posted this I actually meant say it ain't so because I know how she would be looked at.
Did she make it personal? She kept the focus on the republicans like she should have. You keep ignoring that I have said I want her to keep the pressure on the republicans. It's very telling that you think me making this thread is divisive, I was not labelling anybody, when I posted this her being progressive was the furthest thing from my mind. Talk to your peeps who took it there.
People are free to disclose or not disclose their experience that day if they so choose. She is not playing up what happened. She never acted like rioters were beating down her door either. She explained that she was in an office building connected to the Capitol. Do we say that someone is playing it up if they talk about how traumatizing a school shooting was if the shooting was on the 1st floor while their classroom was on the 3rd floor and they never came into contact with the shooter for example? The siege of the Capitol wasn’t that much different. 5 people died and many more were injured as they were hunting officials. It wouldn’t have taken much for them to get to her, and if they did, who knows if she’d be alive right now. she has also spent way more time talking about how those responsible need to be held accountable than she has talking about her experience or the fear that she felt the ones who won’t look at what she said are the ones who didn’t like her or weren’t really listening to her to begin with, and they will create this narrative of her being overdramatic to distract from her main message which has been one of accountability like whoever it was that was trying to “expose” her in that NY Post article
This is just not true at all there are low info voters who only take in this stuff in soundbites. I am not trying to distract from her main message but she was the one who turned the focus on her and how she felt.
Bro. You're your problem isn't with her reaction to the attack on the Capitol? "I knew she liked the attention but I did not think she was thirsty." "She played it up for attention. Not a good look." "...she got over her skis here plain and simple." "She is making this too much about her." Her reaction is more than just being terrified in the moment. She is totally justified in publicly describing how she responded to the horrifying events of that day and it would great if more members of the House and Senate came out and did the same thing. Again, there is a coordinated effort to minimize this insurrection and the article you originally posted is a part of it. Bro.
that’s not her fault her playing things up and acting like rioters were beating down her door is simply a false narrative...she’s actually kept the focus on politicians like Cruz, Hawley, and others who played a role in the siege as well as the Republican Party that actively brought things to a certain point and preached about how they all need to be held accountable these false narratives being used to “expose” her and litigate if she was being overdramatic about her experience on January 6th are just an easy way to try and justify dismissing her message of accountability for what happened that day,..it’s basically nothing more than a cheap distraction
None of that was about here immediate reaction it was about her going on shows and to instagram making it personally about her. If you can't see that I don't have anything else to say.
I will admit its probably more the fault of the media but she has also contributed to it, that's my opinion from what I have seen and I am not anti AOC or trying to downplay the insurrection. You can think what you want.
The thing is, there's actually nothing wrong with that. I actually think it's a smart angle to push publically because it makes you think of the personal fear someone has during an event like that. A lot of people, naturally, dehumanize politicians, and therefore don't understand the gravity of a situation where a mob shows up to harm them. If it were a building full of teachers, for example, I think people would feel more intrinsically sympathetic. There's just no story here.
for the record, I don’t think u are trying to downplay the insurrection...the ones I think are trying to downplay it are conservatives...it’s abundantly clear to me why they would run with this AOC narrative I really don’t see what AOC did wrong...people are lying on her name which isn’t her fault...it’s not like she was on video saying that she got surrounded by Trumpers and had guns pointed at her face or was running through the hallways as MAGA insurgents were chasing her she wasn’t being overdramatic about her experience or playing it up for sympathy...that siege is a traumatic experience even if she wasn’t barricaded in that room huddled on the floor like some of the other officials were it wouldn’t have taken much for them to eventually get to her which is why she had to be evacuated, and if they did get to her, it’s certainly not a stretch to say that she currently wouldn’t be alive today
