ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Thunder 2/3/2021

Thunder came with the extra motivation tonight. They played fantastic defense. The composure of Nwaba on both ends and the playmaking of Wall was immensely missed tonight. Rockets simply just cannot sit their vital players for rest if they want to make the playoffs. Dipo needs to get his energy back as he looks slow as hell on the court and if he truly thinks he deserves a big contract. This type of performance is not going to cut it for him.

Jonathan Feigen does not even wanna put down some take-aways about this game…

 

This game was a letdown. We underestimated okc and we got caught. Bad energy throughout. Turnovers and defensive lapses.

Hope we can show more heart tomorrow.

 

I do not want to ever see that ref crew again - also no more BenMc .. and please trade PJ

 

Just one of them nights... nothing was working for us and things were working for them. It happens some nights. Let’s see how they regroup and come out tmrw night. This is part of the growth process, nothing to be mad about.

 

We need to trade him the next time he has a good game. Get us the injured Aaron Gordon please and send out House in the process.

 

This was one of the worst officiating crews I’ve seen in a while. But they weren’t the reason for the loss tonight—lethargic play and poor composure was.

Can’t believe I sat through all of that. A truly nasty game to watch.

Oladipo hardly puts any effort to get Wood his touches. This is something I noticed in our wins too.

 

If Mason isn't going to be in the rotation, the team has no real backup pg which is a major concern with Wall injury issues and not being able to play on b2b. Oladipo can get his own shot but he can't shoot right now. Wood thrives on the pnr but without good ball handlers he can be taken out of the game. Was just frustrating to watch tonight. These things need to be addressed.

 

Will be a good film game - Wood needs to learn what happens when teams plan to pack paint and double team him

 

This offense is three ball or bust.Run Wood on the post. It’s stupidity

I'm not sure what that has to do with me not enjoying this game whatsoever.

That doesn't take away from their winning streak.

 

Obviously we're usually going to be better than this and the refs were terrible, but there's some recurring problems:

1) Dipo tunnel vision in general
2) Team/coaching not setting up Wood for success in the paint
3) PJ not giving us much besides heart/intangibles
4) No solution when teams pack paint and 3ball not falling
5) Backup pg situation
6) BMac just not very good without Harden to set him up
7) I still think Wood is overrated on D

Hopefully we bounce back tomorrow

 

I agree, just part of the learning curve. Can the Rockets install big wall on the practice court and have Eric, Dipo, and John practice throwing lobs to Wood?

 

Wall also needs to run the P/R with Wood like Harden did.
