The reason the Jets make the most sense is that even with Deshaun they could still end up picking in the top 10 for the next few years.

This is actually the issue with the Jets.

They'd have to give up a lot to basically become the Texans...and that's a team with not a lot of talent and no first round draft picks.

A team like Chicago has talent at least so they could go 3 years without a first round pick. Not sure the Jets can do that.

I feel like they'll be destroying the foundation of their house to add shiny new paint a fancy new door.

Well Watson is still throwing his public temper tantrum, but the simple fact is that the Texans own him, what Watson wants doesn't really matter unless he's truly prepared to retire.....and he's not.

Watson can want to move on, but if the Texans say no, he can't.

Honestly, the Texans probably shouldn't entertain any trade discussions for him because there's no way to get back equal value, especially with the no trade clause they gave Watson just a few months ago.

The Jets can probably come closest to giving the Texans equal value, but we'd be talking about them trading their entire future for him. Are they willing to give up all of that for a head case QB who has shown he will quit on his team and stab the franchise, his teammates, and the fans in the back just months after making a long term commitment to them? Pretty risky. Who says he doesn't pull the same BS on them a few months down the line? A year down the line? Two years down the line?

Trading for Watson is only valuable if you know he's going to play for you and he's gone out of his way to prove to everyone that he's not trustworthy or loyal to anyone or anything.

The type that will stop in the hall for a group impromptu prayer circle with Easterby.

The type that is married with children and knows to keep his mouth shut and be subordinate to ownership and his superiors.

The type that doesn’t hang out with Mia Khalifa.

Most importantly, the type that doesn’t challenge Easterby.

I don’t give a **** if Watson is or isn’t a Christian, it doesn’t change my opinion of him as a man at all. If he is a serious Christian I would remind him Jesus wasn’t a big fan of the wealthy.... as long as he pays his taxes and is a good citizen, he can believe in the spaghetti monster... it really isn’t going to change his morals or values.

Watson claiming to be loyal to someone that isn't himself?

In fairness, it has been longer than 4 months since that tweet and we know how quickly Watson changes his mind about things.

What resources? They are over the cap. They will have to cut Johnson and Johnson, do something with JJ, and that cap number doesn't include Fuller. The defense is a sh*tshow. The running game is abysmal and the 2 top running backs won't be here. So there is no money to re-sign Fuller, RBs, or replace JJ if he is gone. Your solution is better coaching. You also seem to forget every other team went through the same 2020 as the Texans So instead of saying "whatever resources they have to improve the defense" please tell me how this gets done with no resources.

All I know is I am sick of the drama drama drama. He signed a 4 year contract 5 months ago and now he might actually sit out this season if he doesn't get his way? Part of me wants to say too bad, you can sit for 4 years and not get paid, because you are screwing us either way.

I almost see Darnold as a throw-in from NYJ perspective. Taking him with 4 1sts+ gives us some flexibility. We could...

    - Make him #1 and try to ramp up his value in 2021; gives Wilson or whoever a chance to watch and learn
    - Flip him ourselves for picks if someone gets desperate during the season

If the Jets would trade him and throw a 5th 1st rounder in, then that would be tempting, but Darnold is not that far from being a Top 5 pick himself and it would be interesting to see what Pep could do with him.

I get that you're pissed, but this isn't even close to an accurate statement. As far as downs played, he's played every down that the team has let him. He's the one who was on a bus to Jacksonville because of a collapsed lung.... He hasn't stabbed anyone in the back, he just wants ownership to be better (which we all do).

If he turns into Harden and this takes a nasty turn, then so be it, but as of right now, all we know is that he's with a lot more leverage, he's literally demanded the SAME things the fans have demanded:

    Keep organizational promises: NOPE
    Hire innovative coaches: NOPE
    Fire Jack Easterby: NOPE
At least look like we're trying to compete: NOPE

Maybe he's asked nicely, and nothing's happened, and now this is the way to get his message heard that he's serious about the changes....

Also, your statements as of late ("the simple fact is that the Texans own him") Have a certain...tone to them, but I just can't quite put my finger on what it is...

He really has stabbed everyone in the back though. Saying that before he got paid he made everyone think he was one kind of player only to turn on everyone a few months after getting paid doesn't help his case.

Talk about who he made you think he was before he got paid doesn't change the fact that a few months ago he made a long term commitment to the franchise, his teammates, and the fans. He's already demanding that he not have to live up to that commitment just a few months later because he has no loyalty to ANYONE but himself. He's proven that his previous actions were self-serving, he did them to get that payday and be in a position to betray everyone.

The spin talking about wanting ownership to be better is very similar to the spin by Harden that Fertitta was the reason he was sabotaging the team and forcing his way out. We both know that was BS, he just wanted to get to the Nets so KD and Kyrie could carry him. The spin that this has anything to do with ownership is the same, the only thing that potentially changed since he signed his deal was that he wasn't allowed to make all hiring decisions for the team, he was only given input. Watson simply shouldn't have that power, so I won't blame ownership for not giving it to him. After all, Watson was BOB's biggest supporter the WHOLE time he was here. Who he thinks should be hired should be met with skepticism.

If the accurate statement hurts your feelings, that's not my problem. The Texans own Watson for the next 5 years due to Watson committing to them long term just a few months ago. That's what happens when you sign long term contracts then act like a b**** a few months later.

    Bobby.

The whole goddam team supported BOB while he was here, minor a little scuffle at the end. The whole team never said this bloke walks on water, so we should never fire him. But the same time they didn’t say anything bad against him either (at least until they left).

CBA rules are written and followed.

Just as he has a no trade clause and can request a trade, the team can go sign anyone and they can subsequently trade them. Yes, even those terrible contracts like Whitney, McKinney and Cooks.

The team doesn’t have to trade him and he doesn’t have to play.

This absolutely goes both ways, you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

Not sure if Jack or Cal are paying you, but you’re spin on the narrative is quality.

No one on the entire team went as over the top in their support for BOB as Watson. I mean, the guy went so far as to outright say he "loved" him on multiple occasions.....and Watson didn't throw his b**** fit until after BOB was gone.....is that a coincidence? Doubtful.

He stood by BOB as he kicked talented player after talented player to the curb destroying the team he inherited....but NOW he's taking a stand because he didn't get to name the new GM and head coach? LOL, okay.

Sure, Watson doesn't have to play, but he also doesn't have to get paid or accrue service time. The team owns his rights for 5 seasons of him showing up no matter how many years it takes for that to happen.

The blind affection for a player that betrayed everyone he committed to long term just a few months after making that commitment is beyond ridiculous.

Do you your quotes for me?

“BOB is awesome for trading Hop. I LOVE HIM!!! <3”

    Otherwise the spin is real.

Don’t forget, if someone offers a 1st round pick for Whitney, you will take it and run even though he has an atrocious contract and we should “honor” the contract.

I get we can be pissed but you’re going way overboard on trying to paint a negative picture.

Naw, he and the other MAGAs here are just pissed that a black man isn't staying "in his place". Hence all of the "we own him" posts.
