I really, really want to say that Wood us a better player than Giannis. You guys know that I really want to. But I cant cause Giannis is just on another level at the moment.
I don't know how he does it. This dude's touch is crazy I almost don't believe it's sustainable. He takes some wild looking floaters and hook shots but they go in.
Harden had that touch his first several years but it seemed as he began shooting more and more outside he lost his touch on those floaters and crazy layups. Wood has super soft hands and is very smart about keepin the ball up high so little guys can’t strip it.
Why do you only care about analytics for some players, yet ignore the analytics on others like PJ that's screaming he is terrible?
I'm not ignoring the analytics on PJ at all. You really should pay attention better. I agree that PJ should be traded but do not agree that he is as useless as you and your ilk constantly whine about. Analytics is simply a tool. It does not measure EVERYTHING. For example, PJ sets the hardest screens on the court for the Rockets. That is not really tracked by stats. PJ has lost a step and is still playing out of position vs. bigs which hurt his stats but his willingness to defend any player no matter size is a testament to his value. PJ also is the best defensive communicator in the backcourt. This is a critical part of basketball but is not tracked by stats either. And most importantly, PJ is a deeply respected vet by many of the young players as well as star vets on the Rockets and all over the NBA as a whole. For good reason, he plays the right way.
Cool. You combine all those things, and it leads to the Rockets getting killed with him in. How is that so hard to understand? Doesn't show up? No. Everything shows up on advanced metrics, that's what makes them ADVANCED. If it's not showing up then that means it's not providing actual value in real life.
Seems like he as almost eliminated taking the 3 pointer off the dribble. His catch and shoot looks smoooove. A star player reducing the number of threes taken off the dribble and increasing the amount of threes taken off the catch and shoot and shooting a higher percentage. An adjustment that Wall seems to embrace and Harden never did. I really like this team. I don't want to sell out a ton of assets for an upgrade jnless it meshes with the youth movement. I am certainly interested in upgrading the rebounding/front court depth and seeing how we fare in the playoffs. Players are playing better D. Players are playing harder. Shot quality seems to have improved based on ball movement. Culture shifting the right way.
