JJ didn’t say a bad word about BOB right until the end. Even after he left, zero I’ll will towards BOB.

I’m guessing Watson should have to honor his contract to the Texans, right?

I would like someone to answer this because I don't know. Let's say the Texans keep Watson. How does the TEAM get better within the next 2-3 years with limited draft picks and no cap space to improve the terrible roster?

What do you mean? That's how contracts work.

If he doesn't report, they won't pay him

He can use his leverage as he sees fit.

Do you expect the Texans should keep him and not trade him?

    hence, honouring his contract?

I think you don't understand how contracts work.

The Texans don't have to keep him to honor the contract.

Have you ever read a CBA?

    Still considering Miami, Deshaun?

Yeah I don't get this dichotomy I'm reading here, the perspective one side or the other rightly/wrongly breaching contracts. Each side is free to make any choice they want, and the contract accounts for cause and effect of every possible action. Sure you can like or hate said choices (I'm not super impressed with DW's handling of the situation, all the attention-seeking cryptic tweets; and the texans organization has continually shat the bed in their handling ofc); but ultimately there is only the contract, and the rewards and consequences it dictates.

I'm just going to watch it play out, see which side can withstand their respective consequences for their action/inaction the longest.

I’m asking what is your stance on what the Texans should do with Watson?

I think this is quite simple actually. Between JJ Watt (17.5mil), David Johnson (8mil), Duke Johnson (5mil), just getting rid of those guys would give us quite a bit of cap space. Not to mention the fact that we will have our full compliment of draft picks in 2022.

In the NFL having an elite QB gives us a leg up on most everything else. With money we can sign a few guys and be more than good enough to compete for a division title. (Not the ultimate goal, I know) but that puts us a lot closer than a full true rebuild. Miami tanked everything and went 10-6 in their 1st year of a rebuild. With Deshaun and a few good signings, I think we can definitely stay competitive.

Don’t they have all their picks starting next year?

And having watched more than I would have liked of a 4 win team this year... they were actually competitive enough in most games. If they don’t have an all-time worst defense and less than a corpse of a running game... they likely end up with a far more respectable record, mainly due to the brilliance of DW4.

Spend every single available asset on the defensive side of the ball if Watson is still here - he has shown he doesnt 'need' top level talent for that side to be above average/good.

If the defense can get to "average" and #4 is invested then this team could be a 9-10 win team next year.

I think this is what worries me the most. They will try to play hardball and not trade him before the Draft. Then they will end up trading him for less than what they could have gotten before the draft.

Teams are cashing in on their trades for some reason. This is the perfect time to make the trade. It's never been this way before. Think you do it. Teams are in need and on top of it they are paying. You just can't keep a disgruntled employee and expect results. Odds are against success. Make the move.

Try and get him to play on the team.
Absent that, tell him we'll trade him, but he has to give us a wide list of no-trade teams he's ok going to (or the ones he doesn't want to go to).
Then trade him to one of those teams for the most return.
