ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Thunder 2/1/2021

Let's just roll with them boys and not talk trading core pieces already, that Morey mentality made Rockets a place nobody wants to play for. Lets give it a run till the end of the season and see what we have then

 

When Nwaba comes back, our defense will be even better. One more solid defensive/rebounding 4/5 after that would really help us to get closer to the next level.

This is fun I cant lie. I forgot what good basketball defense looked like. If you play tough D you will always have a chance. Its still early too. Chemistry is starting to develop - the team is taking advantage of a soft part of the schedule. I have the Sixers game coming up in a couple weeks as the first real test of this team as a playoff participant and the opportunity to be taken seriously. We shall see.

I think Silas has a legitimate shot at coach of the year if this keeps up. Team is gelling and the system is fluid. Great game.

I’ve been going back and forth on replacing Tucker with some CF’s over the last few days because I’m not happy with the guy.. Hero of mine the past few years for being a warrior, I’m ready to let him go just like
I did with Harden prior to him being traded.

Tucker is getting playing time to try to build up his trade value, IMO.

I see no reason why Wood can’t be playing PF along side Cousins. Cousins DRtg is 90 when starting.

C Wood is playing Center......if he can guard Centers, then he can guard power forwards.

PF should be able to play near the rim (Cousins can shoot 3’s.....allows space for Wood to play near rim)
PF can hit the mid range shot:. Wood can hit the mid-range shot.
PF can hit the 3-pt shot: Wood can hit the 3 consistently and provide room for Cousins to play near the rim offensively.

Problem is backup center if Boogie and Wood both start. Tucker traded for backup 4/5 helps solve that. Or House
as well is rumored by Windhurst as a name being thrown about on the trade winds.

We shall see my friend. When the dust settles after the trade deadline, we will see if Tilman has put all his chips
to the center of the table to contend, or fire sale. Buyer or Seller?

It's funny how people like Kirk Goldsberry claim that even the Rockets themselves "don't know who they are". Reality is that, they know exactly who they are.

Some were McHale-coached and without EG or Tucker. Rockets have been THREE-centric for a while, before MDA's tenure. Remember the game vs Golden Sate when Mark Jackson started intentionally fouling? That was 2014 before Kerr and Gordon arrived. This squad will produce more 20+ games this season -- they had 20 vs New Orleans in the previous game. Rockets have shooters everywhere, the players are unselfish, and they're developing chemistry. We'll see how it goes when competition gets more steep.
