2010-11 - team 2011-13 - all star team up 2013-14 - team 2014-15 - team 2015-16 - all star team up 2016-18 - all star team up 2018-19 - team 2019-20 - all star team up So basically we had 4 champions of teams that just grew together, didn’t have stars teaming up and or forming their own super team. It’s not that big a deal since I can respect last year’s Lakers much more than 2015 Warriors with the way they were protected. Still, I can respect and value the 4 teams who didn’t need to team up to win a lot more. Out of this whole list I can definitely say given the circumstances that 2011 Mavs, 2019 Raptors and 2014 Spurs were easily the toughest and most satisfying. Right now we have super teams in the Nets, Lakers, Clippers and chances are very high one of them will win. I sincerely hope we get a Nuggets or Sixers team to win it all and we can move away from the players forcing their way out of teams. AD, George, Kawhi, Lebron, Harden, KD, almost all the big guys forced their way somewhere or went to a team and basically used their positions to destroy / break up teams and or to get others to join them and do the same to their old teams. It would be amazing if it wasn’t rewarded and players will think twice about forming super teams. Probably not, but one can dream. At least this Rockets teams is most enjoyable in years and in hindsight I’m happy we didn’t get a Butler or another star. Rather not win a trophy by just having a great team who maybe have a shot one day then just stars coming together. How y’all feel about it?
18-19 doesn't really count from a team-building perspective because it only happened due to injuries to the all-star team up. granted, i guess the opposite is true for 17-18.
How were the 2014-15 warriors protected? According to your method of defining Team from all-star team up... Would the rockets championship with clyde drexler also be an all-star team up? Also didn't the 18-19 also involve all star team up? Kawhi was traded to Toronto to join all-star Lowry. IMO the most impressive/entertaining of those you listed is the 2010 Mavs. That run was incredibly entertaining! Lastly championships are championships... Not many are going to recall the injuries or other mitigating factors involve years later. Prime example are the 80s sixers, lakers and pistons. Injuries and player movement were (as they usually are) factors in which team won.
Cool Toronto gets to fly pennants. Acting like that was anything other than an accidental champion from a “how do you build a title team” is silly though. They were the fortunate beneficiary of massive injury (really 2) during the finals and they still barely escaped. That team gets worked in 5 of the dubs are healthy. They did it- flags fly forever- but the only lesson to be learned with that title is sometimes you get really lucky at the right time.
Technically, the Lakers only had two all-star on their team, last year. I wouldn't have called them a superteam.
from most impactful to least: caruso, lerbon, davis. that's a trio of superstars. it's basically cheating.
2014 spurs looked like they figured everything out by the end of their playoff run, and just completely destroyed the heat. To me , that was the most interesting champion of the decade, as they barely have star power at that point in time, and the heat have all the superstars, yet the spurs run them out of the court, playing beautiful team basketball.
Huh? What counts as a all star team up in your eyes? Raptors had 2 All Stars Kawhi and Lowry...3 arguably since Siakam played like an All Star even if he wasnt one. Spurs had 3 all stars in TD, Manu and Parker...arguably 4 since Kawhi also played like an All star even if he wasnt one. If anything your list shows All Star teams win big almost all the time since the only team with one All Srar who won was Dirk.
Barely any star power apart from GOAT PF Tim Duncan, 2x All Star Manu and 6x time All Star Tony Parker you mean?
you talking about 40 year old Tim Duncan, 40 year old manu and past prime parker? I'm Argentinian, you don't need to tell me how good Manu was or Duncan or parker where, i seen all of their seasons from 2003 until Manu retired, But at that point in their careers they where all past their prime. Manu and Tim by a lot, tony by a little. You cant have a championship team without a winning backbone, and the big 3 where that, but that championship was more team effort than anything else. It wasn't even clear who was going to be the finals mvps, as Tim has as much of a chance (15ppg -10rpg) as kwahi or tony. Thats what i meant, not that the big 3 sucked or anything like that.
Manu was 37, TD was 38 and Parker was freaking 32 in 2014. TP past his prime at 32? TD is always in his prime, if past your prime is 15 10 while anchoring the defense he is still better than majority of stars in the league. I dont care about the Spurs Im just disproving your statement they didnt have a lot of star power. They had a lot of star power with 3 established stars and a burgeoning one rising up. It always takes effort to win a ring the only team in recent memory who didnt have to work was GSW with Kd when everybody they faced was injured.
How many of those teams didn't have at least 1 top 5 player? None. Too add, all but Toronto (who only won because of injury) and Dallas, didn't have multiple all stars to support their top 5 player. Harden only had real help one season why he was a Rocket. and we were a hamstring away.
