No, I think Oladipo deserves a shoutout because he's been averaging 22 ppg for us while playing elite defense. Again, you and I disagree about Oladipo and I doubt we're going to convince each other. I put a ton of stock on defense. I guess you think it's just magic that we've gone from a bottom tier defense to a top ranked unit after we swapped Harden for Oladipo?

This is ok but its a message board and some think they have other ideas on team building.

We can look at history and know this team is not championship caliber but I have no problem with anybody who enjoys watching this team but even if like this team you can still talk about what could make the team better.

Yes, if the Lakers had not tanked they would not have had the assets to trade for Davis or have been enticing for Lebron to go there.

More like a late-30s exhausted lawyer with two young kids who act a lot like you when they get upset.

Do teams actually move down for multiple picks in the NBA anymore?

That seems more like an NFL thing.

I am not also a Tank guy my issue is not tying up salary cap space chasing midlevel NBA guys just to compete for a playoff berth.

People are over analyzing. The way the NBA is now, it's all luck whether you stay competitive or tank. In the past couple of years. I think we really took Harden for granted. In this league you need a generational talent to even have a chance to win a championship. Even great prospects like Tatum, Brown, Mitchell, Booker don't do much for me. You eventually have to pay these guys super max and most of the time your ceiling is capped at a second round exit in the West, and ECF in the East. I think Miami last year is the exception and not the rule.

I don't have an answer on what the right step is. I know the team we have now, is so far from contending that it will be broken up sooner than later. Tanking these days is like playing the powerball so either way it's out of anyone's hands. Who knows maybe we will be lucky and randomly pick up a Giannis with a 11th pick or a Jokic with a late first rounder.

Could have guessed you were a member of the bar (takes one to know one). Anyway, I tried to talk to you like a man for the personal attacks you put out on a sports message board and your response was to threaten to tell the moderator for sending you a message to ease off that type of stuff. I suspect you teach the kiddos better manners then you have displayed at times here.

What would have been really lucky was to have the number 1 pick THE NEXT YEAR!

Dude what the hell are you talking about?

In my 1st post I said I don't see Oladipo being a max guy that can be the cornerstone on championship contending team.

You got into your feelings and started trying to clown me like I was saying Oladipo was a scrub and then called me out asking did I see it know because a guy scored 20 points.

I have no idea what defense has to do with anything concerning my original post you just keep strawmanning this.

Please stick to the original premise and stop moving the goalpost.

lebron went there because of "lakers" and same for ad..no other team gets that and is why they are an exception.

Your argument of philly is a good example of your approach.

I get your premise about oladipo but as breakyoself indicated there is finite superstars.

Rockets arent the lakers and unless you can get a good return on oladipo..

Interesting how pacers are in that lower tier almost than rockets. No one wants to be there. 3 tiers.. Then you have mid tier like rockets and a top tier that in a lot of ways to me is a party of 1 in lakers.

Sure gs, j*zz, maybe one day but tier 1 is lakers and now maybe brooklyn temporarily..thats it

And, yes, I have stooped to your level and thereby debased myself. I recognize it.

This isn't too complicated. I value Oladipo way more than you because I think true 2-way players are hard to find and absolutely worth the max. I think Wood has top-3 center potential. I think a great 2-way guard + a top 3 center + a third star absolutely can compete, especially with our future draft assets. You disagree. That's fine. But I hate this who mentality lately of, "You obviously don't care about winning and don't know about the NBA" coming from people who disagree with the potential of this team.

I've exchanged harsh words on here, but I've never come close to sending someone a DM cursing them out. You want to address me like a man, that's fine. But the message you sent me was over-the-top and absurd, as is your recent trend of following-me around.

Haha the conversation of blowup or reload is a good one..

You have examples on both sides.

With wood and oladipo + +
Maybe like the detroit title team with hamilton and billups etc

And yet you perpetuate that mentality by engaging in the exact same thing (see my consolidation of some of your greatest hits earlier in this thread). I'm tired of engaging in that BS too so let me actually address your post. I agree that a team with a top 3 center, a great 2 and a third start can compete. I just disagree that those stars align on this team at this time. First of all, even if Wood can be a top 3 center, I dont know that he is there now. And when he is I have greater doubts that Oladipo will still be a great 2 (if he is one now or ever has been is up for debate). And the Rockets dont have a legit third star. They have has beens, might bes and guys who are white knuckling their spots in the NBA but stars? Not quite.

Look, I could have stated my objection to your attacks on another poster in a less profane manner. I should have. I apologize. But much like you I am tired of the vitriol. It is one thing to question if people who want to salvage a high draft pick from a wrecked season are as fanatical as people who bleed their team's color. But it is something else all together when you threaten to ruin those people's enjoyment of websites such as this one. When you told HP3 that you planned to "blast him until his tone changed", I though you were being an a**hole and had gone too far. And so I told you that. I shoulnt have and two wrongs dont make a right and all that good stuff.

No, Wood is not currently a top-3 center. But I think he can become one over the next year or two, especially if we keep developing him the way we are by not 100% making him the central scoring option. The last six games he's averaged 25/12. Those are insane numbers given his usage. I mean, his TS% is .625 and only getting better.

Oladipo has been dropping 20+ in his sleep and is a former All-Defensive team starter and steals leader. Yes, he is better on D than on offense, but I really don't understand why so many on this board underplay his defense. As I said, it's no coincidence that this squad has transformed into a far, far better defense virtually overnight.

No, we don't have a third star, but I think it's far easier to land a third star with our current makeup than trading Oladipo for more draft compensation and praying we hit gold twice in the draft while we potentially waste Wood's potential.

No, I shouldn't have said that to HP3. In my defense, I had consumed a lot of whiskey and was excited about a win.
