The Peter King article you quoted literally says he was consulted.

That he didn't find out who they hired directly from them but instead from social media is stupid. We're like 7 years into that happening, because social media is fast.

I feel like you're trolling me.

I said he was ignored. They asked him and then ignored him. Here is the quote from the article again

"Then, he had the rug pulled from underneath him with Easterby, who he believed would be more in the background on this, steering the process toward Caserio. "

I don't understand how you don't see the problem here.

Deciding to go a different direction after receiving someone's input isn't "ignoring them", it's just not going that direction. When someone asks you for input, they are not telling you that you get to make the decision, they just are asking what you think about it.

Watson didn't want just input, he wanted to be the guy who made all of the decisions for the franchise, and that was just never going to happen.....so he threw a tantrum and his army of simps is coming to his aid.

Convenient you left out this part: "But he was told that he’d be consulted during the search, and he was at first."

I'm not sure how you don't see the problem here??
He thought Bill O'brien was great. Bill O'brien sucked.
He didn't like Easterby. Yet Easterby was there long before he signed his mega extension.

Having his cake, eating it too. That's what he wants.

You can say "well, GIVE IT TO HIM THEN!!"

And ok, I'd be fine with that, too.

But I'm going to call him out on his move. As others have pointed out, things got a "little" tough for him, and this is his response, AFTER signing his mega extension.

I think we largely agree on this subject. Being given only a consultation role wasn't acceptable to Watson, he wanted to be the guy who made the decisions and that wasn't on the table.

    Exactly.

Which is why i asked 1,000x if some of y'all really think he thought BOB was a great coach, or he was lying. In either case, it doesn't reflect well on him. Thinks he was a great coach, then he should be given no role in the hiring decisions. Lying... then f' off with needing to be involved, could have saved a lot of headache and potential heartbreak by not lying.

I don't know which one it is. I don't really care.

I'm just still pointing out how shitty the whole timing of it is for DW.

If there's any truth to the rumor - that the 49ers are kicking the tires on Cousins - it might give some insight to exactly what I've been arguing: dealing for Watson is cost-prohibitive & whoever is telling him to demand this trade is giving him bad advice.

Yeah, I honestly don’t know what team could afford the price tag......and be competitive in the short term.
Maybe Miami. Jets could afford the price but they won’t be very good.

Nor should it ever be on the table. He I good but not THAT good. Also being good at playing football doesn't mean you will be good at making football decisions. Michael Jordan is the goat but has sucked at basketball decisions.

Matt Stafford just commanded 2 first rounders and a 3rd rounder PLUS Jared Goff!! Is Watson not worth more than that?

Kudos to the Texans for wanting a kings ransom - its the market rate for an elite, generational QB on a team friendly deal for 2 more years.

My wife asks me all the time what shoes she should wear. She routinely chooses the opposite of what I say. It's how the world works.

ESPN confirms it too. Watson wasn't even expecting them to pick his candidate but was completely shut out.

He did not expect Houston to hire those he endorsed, but Watson was hoping the Texans would respect the feelings of the group of teammates he was trying to represent, sources told ESPN.

The Texans, however, did not act on their quarterback's thoughts and charged ahead with a hire that mattered to a much smaller circle than the one Watson was trying to aid, sources told ESPN.

Even if the Texans didn't want to move forward with any of Watson's recommended candidates, sources told ESPN that Watson wanted to at least have the opportunity to meet with ownership's finalists so he could offer thoughts from a player standpoint to benefit the team -- and then the Texans could hire who they wanted. That opportunity never came.

Are you saying the rest of the playing group, JJ included, went along with Billy B for 7 years?

That's what it sounds like, since no one opposed him.

Of course, most observers consider Goff's contract a negative.

Still, does make it feel like you demand 4 first rounders at this point.

Then he should have put off his vacation to Cabo.

The McNair's wanted to hire Caserio for the last 15 months. He was going to be there hir. They did interview Khan, I'm sure if DW4 wanted to sit visit with Khan that could've been done very easily. But Cal was going to hire Caserio so that would've been a waste of time. Same with EB, the McNair's weren't going to hire EB just like every other franchise that had an opening because of EB's past. To interview him (Which the eventually did) was just a waste of time.

Yes...ish. I don't know enough about either contract, frankly - but if Watson's is more prohibitive, that would help balance the scales. Plus, the Lions and Stafford were working together and that does help maximize value.

The teams that Texans are likely to want to deal with - ie bad teams with better/higher draft capital - may not be high on Watson's list - and that matters since he has a NTC.

I’ve seen a couple people say for 2 or 3 more years. His extension is for 5 years, no? Including this year.

The McNairs paid a ton of money to Korn Ferry.

At this point the Texans are about to lose their locker room.

Watson's goal was to get the Texans to hire a outside GM who can determine that Jack Easterby was useless and needs to get the hell out there. That was Watson's end game, it didn't matter who the GM was as long as it wasn't an Easterby lappy. Watson saw that he had lost the war with Easterby with the Caserio hire therefore he is done with the team.
