Once Wall and Dipo blow their knees, you wished you never have gone after them. I never wish that upon them but better be safe than sorry.
Nope, but those contracts hamper you on your way to rebuild. We may go into the playoffs this year or next year but after 5 years, we could have developed someone like SGA in the meantime. That's wasted time. That is exactly why this team hasn't grown a superstar in years other than Harden who was already a 16 ppg scorer coming here. You keep on getting those 28 year olds that have an expiry date that's coming soon. And fans who do not see any kind of 'Big picture'.
well the Rockets had Harden and have been a contender for nearly a decade so trying to develop picks instead of getting win now players would have been the wrong move.
That could happen to any player. From all indications, the chances of reinjury are minimal. Would you not sign Durant under the same logic?
Harden was a lucky move, Morey said himself, he envisioned him as a 24 ppg but never as a superstar. You know very well, that with a cheap owner, you better hoard several Top 10 picks that should be ready, stars on a cheap contract. He won't invest that much.
Durant is a Top 2 player. Oladipo is a Top 35-50 player. Just think that through. You roll the dice on the better player. Other than a Top 5 - Top 10 player, you just do not. Top 15 - 20 players are a fickle thing, but you roll the dice on the younger players not 28 year olds.
Sorry, I just don't agree with that logic. It seems arbitrary. I believe, the way he's playing, Oladipo is a great player who solidifies our new defensive philosophy. So, if he can be competitive with him -- and so far the answer seems yes -- you roll the dice.
How is it a Strawman talking about him being a max player? He just turned down 25 per with Indy, and IMO that's already too much, just because other guys make that much does not mean we need to sign him to that much and be stuck in mediocrity like his Indy teams or others. Just because he is the best a bad FA class should have no bearing on giving him max money.
Sorry, I want to win a championship even if it takes 20 years but it has to start somewhere. You start with potential stars on cheaper contracts and then the last pieces are 28 year olds. Going to 2nd or 3rd rounds with Harden was fun but beyond frustrating. It is going to happen again. Your goal ain't the same as mine. That is pretty much the gist of everything. You want to start another purgatory, endless cycle of going to the playoffs, getting kicked out, and so on.
Our goals are the same. We just have different views of how to achieve it. Wood, IMO, is already at Top 25 and may soon make the case to be a top 15 - 10 player. Oladipo has been averaging 22 ppg for us and plays elite level defense. That's arguably a top 25 player right there as well. Add the right pieces around the two, and yes, you can easily develop a contender. And it's far easier to do so by attracting high quality free agents than tanking and praying.
I rather watch Luka drop 30 + 10 + 10 than Harden dropping 40 + 10 + 10. Guess what, Luka is 9 or 10 years younger and already close to his level. So yes, I enjoy watching 20-22 year olds going off than veterans. Nope, Durant and Kyrie selected Brooklyn not just because they have a good team, they are the biggest market.
Can't really talk to you, you do not seem to understand, or want to understand how the NBA works. Oladipo and Wall are on their last legs, playing for their last big contract. Of course they want to play to their best. But their best are only as good as Sexton, Jaylen Brown, ....... You know what a 'future' is and what a 'past' is? It's not preference it's how people build rosters. It is necessary. I like that Silas wants to make the Playoffs and playing Tucker 30 minutes but it's not a long term goal.
LOL. I don't understand what the NBA is, huh? It's funny how guys you talk this way, but certainly don't acknowledge your pronouncements that this isn't a playoff team, etc. The fact is this team is playing way better than you expected and you're embarrassed. I expect they'll continue to embarrass you.
Whatever man, you seem to be some kind of teenager or goofball. I have been watching this show 25 years and longer. I have seen much better teams than that. Enjoy the season. Try to take the high road instead of annoying folks.
Enjoy this team playing beyond expectations, Wood establishing himself as a star, and you slowly slinking away from your initial positions.
