You're gonna pay him but you dont care about paying him. You dont care about paying him but went on a tirade talking about how he is underpaid and the reasons you will pay him. Tsundere?
Whatever the case, give him a extension. PJ is the type you want around the organization after he retires
Lol, Im merely presenting the argument for why they should pay him. You are the one arguing with me. I dont care either way because I know its likely he's traded. The only reason I come in here is because the opposition in here acts like there is no valid reason as to why he should get paid. There are plenty of reasons.
Why not do all three? Converting Mase will not affect salary cap to prevent signing of Nwaba and/or Sterling.
Not it’s about discussing life without Tucker next season. Tucker may not be defending 4’s and 5’s this year either. Not according to the ORtg of the other team when he is on the court. Does Semi Ojeleye guard 4’s. Free agent that made about $1.8M this season. Gets more than Tucker when you project him out to 30 minutes. Get it, anyone but Tucker who wants $9M or more. Heck I would rather draft someone than pay Tucker what he thinks he is worth.....pouting that he makes shy of $8M and that’s not enough.
He's not pouting on the court. And it's not his fault that he is not being used properly, he is being a good soldier. Plus his communication on the court and taking young players under his wing is very underappreciated. I understand trading him, but I dont understand disparaging him. As far as I'm concerned, PJ is a Rocket for life. He is not a mercenary like Boogie.
He was pouting earlier in the season. Made comments like, “ask management if they want me.” If they didn’t want him they would have waived him when it was non guaranteed money earlier. He is 36 y/o come playoff time at 6’5” and doesn’t get off the ground anymore. Let him go. Better pastures.
Until he's traded, I will root for him. PJ has been a warrior for this team and he still gives it 1000% on the floor. At least he's not slowly jogging around like fake tough guy Boogie.
I’ve always liked Tucker, but I have called him out repeatedly for about a month now. You don’t let money cause you to slack off. https://www.thescore.com/nba/news/2051200 When asked if Houston and he have discussed an extension, “Next Question!” If that’s not pouting, I don’t know what is? Just answer, “yes, nothing has come of it.” I have called him out when the ORtg of the other team was 120 when Tucker is on the court. You can easily find those postings. Now he is playing and has brought it down to 114 when he is on the court. I don’t need to believe it’s rain down my back when I look down and see the rain yellow.
on the court, he's been a negative overall. but as a leader for the young guys on the team, his presence has been unquantiably positive. i'm happy he's still here but i can see both angles
So, genuine question here, what exactly do you think the next level for this team is, once PJ leaves? Like whats the ceiling, second round?
When I said next level really I just meant get better. Like the numbers show he is a huge negative out there right now.
So you arguing just to argue is that it? Lol There are plenty of reasons why he should be extended but since he is getting traded obv those reasons arent valid enough to extend him otherwise Rox would be extending him. It's pretty simple.
Morey used to be called overly analytical but even he was far more aware of the things that don't show up in stats but do show up in 5-man lineups (which are purely supposed to be judged as lineups). Morey signed many of these guys. It's not fair to say that Nader or Ojeleye are equal, because their teams would dump them for Tucker in a second, even if they were to turn around and trade him to a 3rd team. We just don't need Tucker, there's no chance we're competing for anything. Contenders who are content with their star power will pay a 1st for him - and no one will pay a better first for any of the two guys you mentioned.
It's still too early to make these calls on Tucker. His numbers right now are suffering, but the whole team is just beginning to gel and settle into things. I would just wait a few more weeks at the least to see how he does. Based on what it looks like to me, he's more valuable right now as an on-court coach and mentor. I'm not sure if we can't net an improvement by trading him or not. I don't see any reason that loyalty would keep us from making a trade if an opportunity to go to a contender is possible.
So how much is PJ wanting in an extension and how much was offered? At 36 and on his last contract year you have to take what’s best for the team. Saying he isn’t being played right in Silas system is a red flag to me as well. PJ is certainly playing for a contract at this point and my gut says if we are not a true contender within the next year his enthusiasm to play will drop especially with guaranteed money in the bank. Never pay a man on past performance. The only measure should be how well he fits the current system and his performance right now.
