Sorry for the cheesy @Carl Herrera type title in advance. So who you got? I'd much rather had preferred to keep Capela, he is a classic big man with rebounding and blocks. Wood is new school, but too scrawny IMO. Still, happy we have/had both.
Capela should thank his lucky stars that he went from getting spoon fed by Harden to Trae. Great rebounder, not much else. Wood is a foundational building block. Not remotely close.
I love Capela, but Wood is already better and has a much higher ceiling. Capela is a great complementary piece. Wood is potentially a franchise player.
Lol Capela was soft and couldn’t do anything else besides lobs Wood be hitting threes. Wtf are you talking about my guy
Capela was a major find as a late round draft pick. He was head and shoulders better than most of us thought he’d ever be. Capela without Harden had severe limitations. Woods without Harden is a cornerstone as a catalyst.
Its one game. Capela has a career 4.8% block rate, Wood is 3.6%, not a huge difference. Capela is a better rebounder. The difference on offense is like Kobe vs Corey Brewer.
Capela is a decent player and we could have used him next to Wood but he is also extremely limited, cant do anything on offense besides dunk and layup. He also has a history of choking in the playoffs which might not matter for Atlanta. The biggest issue though is Capela has Plantar Fascitis everybody forgot about it but thats gonna be nasty in a couple of years esp for Capela who relies on jumping and dunking to do anything. Wood is a superstar on offense you want dunks, layups, floaters, 3 pters, he can prob even do some turn around hook shots if he practices. No comparison between the two.
I understand your want for better rebounding/blocks. That's something Wood isn't able to do the greatest at his current weight. The biggest difference between the two is that Capela has tapped his potential. He'll pretty much always be a rim-running/defensive big. We're just beginning to see Wood play large minutes and a few months in the weight room will improve the size of his frame. With that will come the development of better rebounding, defensive anchoring, and back to the basket post moves. Trust me, he's getting better.
Capela was a match up liability a lot for us. Wood hasn't been so far. Thats enough for me to call it. And I do think Capelas skills are easier to replace by far.
