I started feeling my side effects the night of my second dose. Definitely recommend to take the next day off if you can. I had mild side effects from the first dose, so not surprised the second one hits harder. Not fun at all. The way it works is the mRNA gets your cells to create a spike protein, which is a marker on SARS-CoV-2. The body recognizes it as foreign, creates antibodies to fight against that marker, which will allow your body to fight against SARS-CoV-2 if you are exposed to it.
Memorial Herman opened up some spots for those that are 65 and over. If there is an error message, that means they are filled up! https://secureaccess.memorialherman...P8lZCGf2GAMLpi9XOd4Jai5F2jzBp-NRkBes76WxZiWK4
Some older TX relatives starting to get their first Moderna shots, thank god. Some through their retirement homes and others via the VA. I know they aren't fool-proof, but the relief I'm feeling, especially for parents, is amazing.
I got my Pfizer shot from Denton County yesterday. Had to drive about 40 miles to get to Texas Motor Speedway where they were processing hundreds of people at a time while in their cars. I have to give Denton County credit - they've got that process working like a military drill. Everything was being done flawless with no backup. There were hundreds of people arriving and leaving every hour probably, but I was only there for about 30 minutes and 15 of that was just sitting there waiting to make sure I didn't drop dead after the injection. No crazy reactions yet. I only feel any pain if I press the injection site. I signed up with Denton County for the vaccine on January 12th and got the notice to come in the day before (3rd). Got the vaccine on the 4th. BTW, on Nextdoor, someone posted that one of the syringes they used to inject him ended up being empty. lol. oops. So they had to do it again.
Yes, it probably did kill them, but the medical worker was still determined that the vaccine be delivered. The patient would not die of COVID!
I don't think it matter for muscular injections (into your arm or butt). I think the risk of airbubbles is straight into veins...? My medical knowledge comes from 10 seasons of watching ER and internet hypochondria whenever I'm sick.
where does one get the vaccine if they aren't in a high risk age group? about the only group I'm in is chronic neck pain / condition. I've heard most of the vaccines probably by the summer.
I'm not sure if he caught it before the injection or not, to be honest, but I thought the same thing. I think it takes a decent volume of air to kill you via intramuscular injection (the syringe would have to be a whopper with a lot of air), but I'm not sure -- someone in the field would probably know better. When I worked as a pharmacy tech making IV's, I just made the stuff -- never had to inject anybody. lol. The guy on Nextdoor said there's been at least 2 other reports of this (in El Paso and Colorado, according to him).
Hopefully in April - June time period, you'll just walk into a Walgreens or CVS and get a one shot J&J vaccine.
Moderna seems to be more honest and transparent with their studies. I got my second shot and just had low grade fever, runny nose for half a day.
