Call me crazy but I loved the press conference... I loved the passion I loved the emotion I love his history in the NFL. Glowing reviews and endorsement for NFL legends and Icons. A real NFL coach who actually knows what he’s doing and has been there done that. I’m so damn glad to move on from O’Brien. And Culley is exactly what this team needs at this point.
David Culley is a puppet. Hot blonde Josh McCown will slide into the HC spot within the next three years. This is going to be ugly unless we get a good trade and Zach Wilson becomes a star. (Lance has the same QB coach as Deshaun; Fields has the same agent as Deshaun)
Sure 11 questions is short but LOL, nah, these reporters are mostly ass. Last season was tough and there’s a lot of talk circulating around the fan base. Fan base would like some positive news. Why are you optimistic about the future? - “Season Ticket holder Melissa” Aaron Wilson with a question about something 40 years ago. Then Culley spent the next 5-10 minutes rambling.
It seems every team wanting to interview you suggests people think more highly of you than the guy that no one even wanted to interview at any point in the last few decades, and no one even thought was worthy of a coordinator job. There's a huge Peter Principle problem here, but coaches who are thought of as good at their jobs tend to get promoted, even if its for the wrong reasons and they eventually fail there. Culley has been stuck at the WR-coach position for 26 years. What does that say about what people think about him? I'm not arguing EB would be better than Culley (due to the Peter Principle issue). Frankly, I'm glad they gambled on him over Frazier or Caldwell. But I think it's pretty clear the rest of the league views the two people very differently.
Honestly when I turned the radio on and started listening to the press conference, I thought I was listening to a parody. The McNair family is the number one reason we should be excited about the Houston Texans???
It may be a timing thing in part. The last 2 years, he hasn't been available to actually start the job for a month after many positions get filled. If there are two equally good candidates, and one is available now to get started on film study/draft prep/etc, you probably just take that one. EB might simply be at the same level as the other coaches getting hired, but loses the tiebreaker each time. The fact that teams keep interviewing him suggests they at least believe he's at the level of the other coaches being considered. The Texans didn't even interview most of those coaches everyone else was pursuing though.
Not sure what was the worst part: 1. Cal's opening. 2. Culley's rambling about nothing. 3. Obvious planted question from a "season ticket holder representative."
At first look, Cullen's personality reminds me of how Ray Lewis would be as a coach, just cuts animated promos but no real substance behind them. Guys are these are made to be assistants, WR coach was probably well suited for him. This is gonna be bad folks.
Funny, other coaches around the league including belichick praised BOB. And why wouldn’t you. Praise the Texans for making a hire that gives you one less team to worry about...
How can they be lying when they just said they base everything on communication and honesty? C'mon man....
Wouldn’t you rather have Smith handle the defense and Kelly handle the offense and Culley be the rah-rah leader type then Bill O’Brien being in charge of every aspect of this organization?
