They just need to play switch on everything in defense and they will be the best defensive team in the league in no time
I would disagree with the entirety of that statement. I think he was trying in the beginning but at the end, he quit
Since we will probably get lakers or clippers in the first, that is doubtful. Team is fun to watch but a full roster barely beat a team missing 3 starters.
Yeah that's true, he did try for like the first 3 games at some point though you could just tell he was done.
Same here. I did not want him to leave but that did not make or break my fandom Still a Rocket Fan and Still like James . . .I can do both Personally I was more worried the Vets would hamper the New Guys I think we need to give Silas a bit of props His Rotations are getting better. . . . .. We knew the beginning would be rough no matter who was here Rocket River
I would disagree with the beginning of that statement. If Harden were “trying” he would have easily made it to Houston’s training camp before missing the window and getting put in quarantine protocol in the first place.
Yeah, it's great except we're not going to score enough to win a title, and everything else doesn't matter because these guys are too old for the picks we have and the Lebrons, Durants, Currys and Kawhis - you know the title-winners you worship - of this league don't play defense in the regular season either so if/when we acquire one, we're going to have to put defenders around them. It's good that Silas can coach defense when he puts 5 defenders on the floor and they pass the ball well. That wasn't going to solve the problem because Harden played great defense in all the conference finals and dropped 27/7/7. Doesn't work. We have the same problem: not enough talent. That's why the problem was never that we had the wrong star/role player and had to swap it for another one. The problem was that we needed more talent and I was telling you this ever since we dumped Dwight, and even when we had peak Paul. Some people are living in some fantasy land about your franchise player having to carry you like Hakeem with one fading star and role players. Good for you, wait decades for a title like the other 20 teams who never sniff it.
Who said anything about winning the title this year? You build your team up, create a culture, add pieces to it, flip pieces as their trade value goes up because the team is doing well. Eventually you get there or some superstars notice you like Kd and kyrie noticed the job bkn was doing. You don't tear everything down for a crap shoot where you may or may not draft a star, and particularly this year where you may or may not even keep the pick. It's insanity. If this team was a bottom 7 team I would say go for it and tank 2 spots. In reality, while they may not be contenders, at full strength they could be close to fighting for home court.
We are not a FA destination nor do we have the pieces to compete for a championship. Oladipo has to be flipped now. So does Gordon and so does Tucker. So no we dont have what you think we do. Tanking isnt hard. You are playing the role with the highest odds of success.
No, that’s not how teams do it. Brooklyn is a super team and it exists because Kyrie is from Brooklyn and would have done this no matter who was running it, Durant is a beta follower and Harden of course was acquired by trade after we pissed away his prime penny pinching while being within striking distance of a title. The teams in the league who don’t tank and aren’t an FA destination don’t get anywhere, which is why the Spurs for example ain’t **** despite a great organization, coach and development team. This is called a treadmill team. There is no other disgruntled 6th man who will become the MVP and all time scoring great, that’s 1 in a million. There’s no FA who is coming here after what we did with Harden, unless they are not into winning. Be logical for a moment and try to understand that if you’re a winner, you ain’t going to the organization that won’t pay LT while being a conference finals level team. There are other teams who will offer winning and LT to their players and won’t pay journalists to **** on a guy who is the 2nd best player in franchise history and broke all the significant individual franchise records. Also, it’s just more fun to me watching a young losing team than a mediocre winning team.
I loved Harden when he was here, but it's hard to argue that he wasn't a tad slow when making rotations. One bad rotation can cause an entire defense to falter on a given play. I sure miss his offense, but I'm not going to pretend that I don't enjoy the defense this team plays. It's a give and take thing.
How about BOS, did they tank? Is TOR a destination? BKN, and HOU mind you, were not the only examples. I'm not against going young at all if the right deals come along for our vets. I'm just against the idea of dumping our vets for pennies to try to get a pick this year that may or may not even be ours.
Nwaba is a freaking beast. You just have to have enough scoring surrounding him so that he doesn't stand out as a 3 point liability. Let him do his thing of defense and driving to the basket on breaks. He's capable enough to cut and finish, and that's all he really needs to do right now. He's going to be fun to watch for a long time.
