I think it is this. I don't think he has any confidence in ownership making smart decisions going forward. Speaking to JJ Watt and AJ Johnson and Hopkins likely hasn't helped either.

I mean hey, at least the Jets hire the guys recommended by Korn Ferry. It's worked out great for them.

And he likes Saleh. I can almost guarantee none of this is a problem if they (not we anymore) hired Lewis or Khan and Saleh

The consulting firm was ignored and hiring a Muslim would have never happened hence why Saleh did not even get an interview

I still plan on going to every game just so I can boo the hell out of Cal McNair. Is there a way we could coordinate a walkout? Like the first game everybody show up and then as the game starts everybody empties the stadium out. Like seriously I'll accept Watson leaving if it means Cal leaves shortly after.

How can you explain him signing an extension LAST OFF-SEASON after Hopkins was traded and after Easterby climbed up the ranks?

He changed his mind. He wants a bigger market with a bigger spotlight.

So, you fault him for having kept the status quo (current active player supporting current active coach he plays for)...but now you're trashing Watson for not keeping the status quo because he's voicing his concerns publicly instead of privately?

    Also: https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/deshaun-watson-backs-bill-obrien-as-the-texans-head-coach

Did you mean that vocal support? I didn't realize "he's cool with me" was code for "he can do whatever he wants with players."

I just thought Watson meant "he's my coach." But hey, maybe you know something I don't.

Sure .. keep telling yourself that is the main reason he wants out.

I don't know when it became cool for players to have the role of team president. Not sure this is a good thing and not sure that players making these decisions are good for teams.

Might be good for the team if they want to move on from a guy that not only wants to hire the coach but the GM too. Like I'm cool with that, it seems like a nice job, but do it after your playing career.

It's the most logical conclusion based on the given context we have.

It's the NFL. You're gonna seriously pass up a billion dollars and go out the next week to play in traffic and hope you don't get hurt?

Don't sign an extension if you never planned on having long term commitments for the city. Ya, he chose money over principles. I'm sure many here would do the same. Doesn't make it right.

Couldn't you just stop watching and become a fan of another team? The Chiefs, maybe?

While I agree with you, I think Deshaun knew they were flaming dumbasses when he signed that extension, since it was months after the Hopkins trade.

He knew in signing that deal, it would make him a Texan for a huge chunk of his career and that him getting dealt to another team would be challenging both for him and the franchise. He still signed.

Let's not act like Deshaun doesn't deserve to be held accountable here. He witnessed the incompetence of this franchise for years before he signed that extension, which makes it so much worse than the Harden situation, IMO.
