maybe Watson wanted Tim Kelly to stay and the only head coach canidate that wanted to keep him was Culley. or maybe Watson just wanted Culley. im keeping optomistic for a little while anyways.

This franchise is analogous to Omaha Beach.

Until just recently, the Browns were bad for decades. Cal has decided that the Texans should emulate what made the Browns so awful. Now being mediocre is even out of our reach. Assuming Watson is gone, I no longer have a team to believe in, or care about. I guess any trades or future draft picks will have to pass a piety test first.

To some extent i think this is a hire where he has to build a GREAT staff and let them do their Joe while he is the guy leading his team “into Omaha beach”.

but are there good examples of that style winning? Usually the head coach is at least known for being an innovative something - offense, defense, something.

but whatever. I don’t care. If Desaun stays and they add decent talent and have decent coordinators I’ll give him a chance at least.

but please no more of this 5-6 seasons of a chance ****.

Are we expecting someone to throw a first time coach under the bus as a terrible person? This is so generic and really irrelevant to winning.

I don’t like it but I’ll hold full judgement til after the staff is filled. OC and DC need to be elite.

Tim Kelly is effectively the head coach in waiting. I'm more interested in the defensive coordinator hire

Kelly will be OC. Maybe he's a coach that will let Kelly do his thing with Watson

Doesn't seem a good hire. Wiki said he's never been a HC before at any level. But I have no choice except giving him a chance because it's the HOUSTON Texans. I like the fact he's of color.. maybe Deshaun will too.

I keep thinking about the concessions these guys might have been asked to give to get the job.

You don't get you choose your own offensive coordinator and Jack has free reign to proselytize to your players. Also, Romeo Crennel will be your assistant head coach whether you want him or not.

Is that confirmed? Know he’s staying but didn’t know if it was as OC

Do your feelings change if Watson wanted Kelly to be his coordinator and liked this coach?

bye Deshaun, it’s been fun. Please trade him to the jets
