"David Culley, traveling to Houston on Tuesday for his second job interview with Texans, coached Deshaun Watson in the Pro Bowl last year as part of Ravens' coaching staff. Watson and Culley built a really good connection that week, according to sources"
screw it, let it burn to the ground. Whatever they are trying to build at Kirby, it won't be a winning team.
I mean that’s all good and all but he’s hired to make a football team a championship contender... not lead them into Omaha beach.
Let's see how well he connects with Deshaun. This is just one of those Jerry Jones hires. By that I mean one of those coaches jerra would hire so that he could still walk around the sidelines acting like he is the coach. In this case, easterby gets to give his 'speeches' to the players and lurk.
I wonder if Tim Kelly was the deciding factor. The other candidates might have wanted to bring their own OCs
The NFL created a new addition to the Rooney Rule that gives teams that have a minority assistant hired as a head coach two compensatory third-round picks. It’s similar to MLB’s system where teams that lose premier free agents get compensatory draft picks provided they offered the player a qualifying offer.
I think it worked out exactly how we thought we would. The hire was always going to be someone who didn't have other opportunities - no one else was going to take a risk joining this dumpster fire. Culley, Frazier, and Caldwell all made sense because no one is interviewing them for other opportunities, so they have nothing to lose. No way a Brady or Bienemy was ever coming because it could be a career ending move if Watson decides to leave.
Why do any of you seem so shocked? The bar is so low for this brass that there is literally nothing that can shock me anymore that it already has. Theyll keep taking it to a new low but its definitely not coming out of left field anymore and I for one was very happy and content not to even view this forum for a week. Like this year, I wont be watching many, if any, games next year.
Culley was Baltimore's passing game coordinator. Baltimore finished dead last in passing this year. If Deshaun bolts, will we be worse than the Ravens were this year?
The idea was to encourage more teams to hire minority assistants and give them the support/positions to be future head coaches. I don't think the NFL wants to directly reward teams for hiring minority coaches, because it creates an outright disincentive to hire white coaches. Like the Rooney rule, the goal is more to create opportunities - there are endless assistant coach opportunities so you're not really taking opportunities away from anyone as much.
Culley seems like a great guy and I'll support him and wish him the best. The hire also tells me that Watson is getting traded and we're about to go on the Tankathon Tour. This hire is very "Bo Porter" of us. I'm more interested in who we hire in 3 years once we have stocked the cupboard with young talent and are on the verge of competing again...
Do we really believe that Caserio made this hire? lmao, he wasn't even mentioned one time until two days ago. This is Cal and Easterby's influence. Hire a religious Christian to join the church. Pathetic and sad.
