You're really stretching it with that. They've picked in the top 7...4 times over the last 19 years...
I was thinking the same way as you and confused about what rocket management is doing going forward They don't seem to be taking for a top for a pic but they also are not trading away all the pics for a star to "win now" So I think it's the third option which did not occur to me till this week I think they are trying to win games without trading away assets to boost the trade value of our current players namely ego dipo Tucker and even house tonight.... Hopefully we trade all these guys at the deadline or in the offseason I'm very hopeful and happy about our draft Haul from James Harden and with Young Guns like Porter Jones Tate and woods but man I am scared to death that they will be stupid enough to re-sign Dipo I am scared to death that Tillman will get desperate and want to win now and trade away very valuable future lottery picks to try get a fringe All-Star to try to win now that scares me to death I understand that they can't tank because the way the odds are now in the lottery it's very hard to tank because they change the ping pong balls So I'm not saying tank and not saying trade for better players to win now What I'm saying is play the players to boost their trade value so you can trade them Honestly and this will piss off a lot of people I would trade cousins right now and attach him to a bad contract such as ego... IIsay that because cousins is playing outout of his mind right now I think he is on a veteran minimum contract he is a very good trade chip Problem is the Rockets want to make the playoffs as a 8th seed and we'll keep cousins all year.. big mistake Basically we won't win a championship for at least three more years so ask yourself when evaluating a player will this player still be good in 3 years.... And And the answer is no to ego dipo Tucker house cousins. All need to be traded asap
What does 19 years have to do with the current Warriors? If anything you are showing that being bad worked for them. Their success came when they had multiple picks in the top 7 in a short time frame. The current Warriors roster isn't a result of keeping a good roster and finding diamonds in the rough like the Spurs did. The Warriors got bad to get good.
Because the bolded didn't happen. They didn't have multiple top 7 picks in a short time frame. This literally didn't happen. The Warriors are just like the Spurs. Klay and Green were never supposed to be this good.
So, fielding a competitive team immediately after trading away our second best player ever = "lack of strategy." Man, this forum has some warped views.
Right now the Rockets are more likely to finish with a top 4 defense than a top 4 pick. http://www.espn.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats/_/sort/defensiveEff
How exactly did that never happen? It literally happened in 3 of 4 consecutive years. 2009 - Pick 7 2010 - Pick 6 2011 - Pick 11 2012 - Pick 7
He's not only missing the point, he's missing the facts too. From 09-12 the Warriors had picks 7,6,11, and 7. He seems to not know how the Warriors team was built.
Yea, I donno man, people are really being emotional about this whole thing. I know people are excited about this squad, but its like....you are missing the key piece here and all of our players-Nwaba, Tate, Woods are mid to late twenties. The idea is for us to be like Miami or LA when in fact we are neither of those places.
We won't know what our strategy will actually be until the trade deadline or even after the season is over. If we sign Dipo then we are going to be on the treadmill.
Spurs strategically tanked to get Duncan.... If anything.... GSW shows you can do very well without top 5 picks.... but still needed Curry at #7.
And even those teams won based off being bad. Wade was 5th and all their rings come from having him. The Lakers got AD by trading Ball (2nd pick), Ingram(2nd pick), and the 4th pick last year. People talk about the Spurs but all of their success came while they had Duncan who was first. Success in the NBA rarely happens without high draft picks.
Yup, I have been trying to tell people that. I get accused of "being a bad fan" for it. But this is all for us to compete for the chip.
Same. And the counter argument that teams tank and don't get good is illogical if your goal is to win the title. Tanking is the most successful way to win a title but their is only one title to be won. That means most tanking won't work. The most successful route will always have a low success rate when only 1 of 30 can win.
