As a recent kidney cancer survivor myself, heart goes out to this kid and hope he has a full recovery and no recurrence!

Well yeah why wouldn't they? The difference is TF would celebrate where as any other owner would understand losing a player is a detriment to the team.

Actually he would have been better off here in Houston if it turns out cancerous. MD Anderson is better than any Indiana U Hospital in Indianapolis. I'm not moving back to Indy because my cancer care is better here.

anyone in any type of trade can be traded immediately "on their own" (ie not packaged). For instance, the original 2-trades was trading LeVert twice -- BKN to HOU, then HOU to IND.

Bell well and praying that Caris can recover--fortunate for him the physical caught it.

Probably had some red blood cells in his urinalysis which prompted an MRI.

Sounds like they caught it early (no further treatment needed). This trade may have saved his life.

100% and it completely changed my view on this trade.

Best trade in Rockets history regardless of what comes next.

That's what I was thinking. If the Nets had held on to him, he has another 2.5 years on his contract. If he didn't have symptoms, it might have been that long before he got a complete physical again, and once renal cell carcinoma spreads away from the kidney, it's much harder to treat, with a lessened chance of recovery.

Disgruntled Fat Harden might have saved his life.

I'll echo the sentiments of others in saying, this likely saved his life. It's an incredible reminder of...let's say.. greater forces at work...and what's really important. I'm so happy for Caris. And, more than impressed with the Pacers organization.

When things like this and that happen, it just puts it all into perspective. These are human beings.

What a great break for him. Cancer sucks. I'm glad they caught it early.
