Out West here, Utah fans always thought he was going to turn into Gary Payton or something. Can barely crack a rotation, and injuries keep throwing off his development. I think he's washed up at this point.

His defense is not the problem.

Which is first thing you think about when discussing the Glove.

No, but he's hardly a transcendental disruptive guard that you can't afford to sit and is making defensive 1st teams. I'd say he never reached Beverley level.

Should have kept Jarrett Allen. Cousins can barely stay on the court. Lot of people here are liking Stone's moves, but I see a lot of miss opportunities.

The team wouldn't give offer to Jarrett Allen who want the Max salary, why should the team keep him? The target is to find someone as the team's pieces

Is he still injured or just glued to the bench?

He was projected to be out a minimum of 4 weeks when we traded for him. I think it was a calf strain?

Exum was the 5th pick in 2014. He has had a rough start with injuries (shoulder, ankle, knee) and missed the entire 2015-16 campaign due to a torn ACL. 2019 he did fairly well with 35% from 3 but his minutes were limited, the Cavs have been a tough place raising young pups, and this one was the newest and coming off a significant injury to boot. His current value comes from his defense, at 6'5 and athletic he can guard all 5 positions and keeps players in front of him.

He would be worth more than the Bucks FRP at trade deadline.

Maybe so. But the Rockets not only got a FRP for Allen, they got off of Taurean Prince's bad contract. The net savings to Houston (absent tax issues) is somewhat similar to the Knight-Shumpert deal, in which the Rockets had to give up a FRP of their own.

Hence, you can look at the Allen/Prince-for-Exum/FRP portion of the deal as essentially dealing Allen for (the value of) *two* FRPs. (That, and it helped create the $10.65M Harden TPE, which may or may not get used in a future trade.)

So Prince contract is so worthless that it would require a FRP to move it to another team?

Rockets save ~$3M this season (Prince's salary minus Exum's salary) and drop below the luxury tax this season.

Rockets save ~$13.3M next season (Prince's salary).

Rockets generate a larger TPE in the Harden trade. Whether they actually use that remains to be seen.

Whether or not all that is worth a FRP is subjective. But it's certainly of material value.
