When it comes to a case like this, that doesn’t apply. Had they got offered a first rounder or two seconds John Lucas would’ve been the last thing on the Cavs’ mind.
This is a 20 year old kid. How many of us were fully developed men at age 20? Throw in the fact he has been a basketball "star" his entire youth. Throw in giving millions to an immature 19 year old. Give the KID a chance. Let him be surrounded by Lucas, Wall, Cousin's, PJ, etc. Who does Cleveland have as positive role models to help this kid as compared to the Rockets? Give him a chance to mature.
Why do people think character problem is "low risk"? Anyway, I'm ignorant. I've never heard of a protected 2nd round pick.
Hopefully we can give him a nice locker besides Boogie, so he will think twice before throwing a tantrum. At all seriousness, hopefully he can realize his potential with us. All of our guys are either have been injured or other major problems which fits the "point to prove" bracket. Stone taking chances here and there.
2nd round swap rights coming soon. Morey may be gone but the securitization of draft picks will continue until morale improves
I celebrated my 20th birthday in Afghanistan. Granted, I wasn't the most mature person in the world, but I certainly wasn't a "kid", and my responsibilities were far more critical than playing basketball.
We had no money to spend on a new player. We were up against the Hard Cap, and Clemons contract became gauranteed. Not even injury exceptions could be spent to go over the Hard Cap ... literally, no exceptions to going over. The low risk is wrt assets given up, unless you think a headcase can disrupt the lockerroom of a tanking team. It's not like he's saying anything bad about China,
Not just Lucas helping the kid, but this is another reason to get Green back on the team. Lucas, Green and MadMax can all help learn to cheerish his gifts and love Houston. Just make sure you tell Calvin not to say anything off-mic about him.
