Hoping the #1 pick is a franchise player is just as pie in a sky and you are basically building a team to lose to do so. Losing teams hamper development too.
Idk man. I’m anti-tanking but if the Sixers somehow pry Beal or some other Robin for Simmons + picks, I think they could upset the Nets in the ECF. Embiid is on a mission and Harris is no slouch despite being overpaid. Curry and Green as off-ball shooters certainly don’t hurt either. Maxey is nice. They’ve got real potential if they flip Simmons. Can they beat the Lakers? Idk if anyone can but making it to the Finals is as good as any team can expect
The thing is...it's just likely we give our picks to OKC. That's just the reality. We'll likely get a late first but hey we still have Ego and Tuck to trade so maybe we can get a few more firsts and have more swings at the plate.
We are already bottoming out. How are we gonna give up the new picks we are about to trade for? Did I miss something did we make a deal that says they get our picks that we havent even traded for yet go to OKC? Im confused lol
Lol we can play the why if game all day. What if we end up like the current Spurs. It’s about the smart process. You are letting your emotions loud your judgement
The Clippers have been bad for DECADES. People lived full lives while the Clippers sucked. The Kings haven't been relevant since Webber left, same for the Wolves and KG. The Wolves have had multiple top 3 picks now lol... They finally hit on a guy, Kat, and I imagine he's counting his days until his contract is up to get the hell out of there. Also, Antman looks ok...looks like a player that's going to take 4-5 years to develop...like MKG (turns out...MKG never developed into anything either lol)...so I'm guessing the Twolves have missed on it...again.
Because that was in a different era where the rules were different. Silver HATES tanking too, despises it. It's only going to get harder and harder to tank under him and thank Naismith for that because it sucked when half the NBA was tanking making most games unwatchable.
So your alternative is to hope a franchise player wants to come here to play with John Wall and Eric Gordon? lol
Anyway Im willing to bet we could get to 5-10 without paying John Wall 40 million, lol just a thought.
Not even close to as much. Meanwhile, the threat of making your franchise garbage and a joke is a stink that is hard for teams to get off. You're better just building the best team you can and hoping luck comes your way because that's what it is, luck. Mavs were lucky to get their draft pick but ALSO lucky it was a strong draft but ALSO lucky that the Kings made another mistake. If either of those things don't break for them...they are still 'tanking'.
I think you can make an argument for tanking next year. Not this year though because the risk we give our pick to OKC. Next year EG is gonna be an expiring and we prob traded away Dipo so the Rox can absorb bad contracts to tank just like OKC. Its just dumb not to go for playoffs this year you are benefitting OKC.
You think Woods watching Eric Gordon Oladipo and John Wall ignore him on the offense and chuck the ball is gonna help him develop? lol
