I agree that geography is overrated, but these players prioritize it when making decisions. It sucks, but it is what it is. Harden KD Kyrie LeBron AD Kawhi PG Curry Klay You know what all these stars have in common? They all either play in New York or California. It’s 100% a factor.
What you posted is exactly the type of conversation ending argument that is popular on youtube and twitter. Asking the proof of an extreme case when talking about common sense. Clutchfans is a small community, I get it is still internet, but let's still try to have rational discussions.
Harden's been playing in Houston for most of his career. KD joined a Brooklyn team that was in the playoffs. Kyrie same. In fact Kyrie said it was the main reason they wanted the Nets because of their talent. Lebron this is true. AD had a whole list of teams he'd like to be traded to but he only goes to the Lakers because of Lebron. Lakers were actually in our position and couldn't get anyone, they got lucky because Lebron wanted to be an actor. Kawhi is from LA, same for PG. Curry and Klay were drafted. Also, remember, guys like Howard chose Houston over LA. It is a factor but it's always been overrated. No one minds going there if they can win...but if it looks like the organization is trash? Well, when is the last time the Knicks were able to attract top players? The best they can do is Amare and Carmelo in like....it's been a while.
Still more likely. This argument holds more weight if we had our picks then we know we are at least getting like a top 7 pick...but as is, it's a bad coin flip we keep our pick and then we've gone through all that for nothing. Maybe we get that same luck the Pels and Cavs did and teams get when they lose a superstar, we are sure going to get it.
I don't think the team will be good enough for it to matter, I think if everyone was healthy they would be in that 8-12 spot in the west but as is this team just won't have the chemistry or talent to compete most nights.
We have nothing right now. You are essentially asking us to build with mediocre players and hope we strike big on low firsts. I’d rather gamble to be honest. Tank for two years and be done with it. We don’t need to spin the wheels
LOL i am not saying we have steph and dray i am just helping you realize that you dont know how the system works and we are not being able to predict the things... we are all juts gropping in the dark... warriors and miami are just a methaphor because if you knew how the system works and which player is the best you would be able to predict warriors rise, because 'obviously' they were so much better than the others . And miami getting to the finals was so out of left field(and where are they now btw?) So how come so obvious things nobody noticed/predicted? Because nobody knows who is a great player and who is not and its not a fixed thing anyway... its more fluid of a thing
WE'RE ALREADY A GARBAGE TEAM. We are 4-9 in the West with our main star constantly injured the second one is iffy and gordon sucks meanwhile we are ignoring wood and hampering his development. You guys are looking for pie in the sky. Say Wall comes back and we look great (Big IF). How long do you think that lasts before he's out sore again for a few games? Youre betting our future on always injured players who arent that good even when they are playing. No thanks.
SO we need more picks then right? If we lose with this team you want to stick with and we still give our pick to OKC we have truly lost.
Wall is no saviour. Even iff he comes back healthy, he is a marginal or borderline star at best. Not a super star or even a all star anymore.
lol you keep acting as if losing for 2 years straight will give you anything of a sure thing... you may end up not getting a pick at all and even if you get a pick you may choose a bust or an injury prone guy... even if its a star .. you may still be mediocre for next 10 years... mediocre stars give you nothing but mediocrity...not a great prospect... plus you have no idea if these players we have are mediocre... they never even played a single game with the same crew available...remember last year a mediocre team got to the finals...

You're asking us to strike big on high firsts and ignoring the reality that tanking teams sometimes get stuck tanking for decades. You're whole premise of "Only just a year" It's NEVER that simple. If it were, no team would suck for decades.
The knicks are a trash organization because even when they had a good player they effed it up. The Knicks are a bad example because theyve made horrible choices at every turn. Also KD almost went there.
