So wait -- we traded two MVPs for a hodgepodge of lower 1st rounders?

Break it down for me. How do you manage to not come away with multiple very high picks in this situation? I can't decide which was dumber:

    1. Initially trading for CP3 (arguably defensible at the time)

    2. Extending him for big dollars (LOL!)

    3. Packaging him with substantial draft consideration to get Westbrook, even though they had similar trade value . . .in the end, OKC even got a first-rounder for him whereas we could only trade Westbrook for someone worse and more injury prone (wowwww)

    4. Trading Westbrook for a completely washed John Wall (man . . .)

    5. Trading Harden, MVP and top scorer, without getting back high picks and young talent (o_O)

Let's put it another way. Could we get an elite franchise cornerstone with our grab bag of garbage picks? Of course not. We got robbed left and right. Morey the Moron is gone, but it's still the same story. The biggest slap in the face is that even though we suck after this, we don't control many of our own picks and are dependent on the team we traded our MVP to sucking more than us.

I’m sorry, but did u just refer to the Westbrick trade as trading away an MVP?

If you want to put MVP next to Westbrook's name like it actually means anything that's on you

Be honest, did you go into the future and find out what our picks will be?

    Serious question.

That's all fine but can you add a graph to support your argument?

since GF analogies are popular today,

when your drop-dead gorgeous GF leaves you, it's quite common to try to forget her with a hodgepodge of 1st Dates

How come is john wall completely washed?
I thought he was actually playing very fast, finished well at the rim and was solid from 3pt line?

I'm a risk averse person, so I prefer a proven players over uncertain draft picks. That said, even if one believes picks have low intrinsic value, if the perceived value is high among NBA GMs, then they are valuable. If a right deal comes along, cash them in. Hope is a powerful thing to sell.

Bruh, if you thought Morey was dumb, you're in for a WORLD of hurt. At least Morey had hair. Lulz.

This team, like the Texans, has been completely desecrated by incompetent, ego-driven management that would rather sell hot dogs than win games.

Enjoy the darkest era in Rockets history.

I mean draft picks will always be valuable. Even if the chance is low, there's still the CHANCE to get the next big thing.

Hakeem,Lebron, KD, MJ, James Harden all have one thing in common.

At some point they were a draft pick that the team decided to keep rather than trade away. Or get from another team for that matter.

You may end up with one Greg Oden or two, but without those Picks you ain't getting a MJ or Lebron either.

I remember when people thought the Westbrook trade was good. That was a fun time.

It's a huge risk. I don't like trading a generational talent for lottery tickets either but atleast they got Victor Oladipo out of it. It's like a combination of the Raptors trade for Kawhi and the Clippers trade for PG13. You could argue who is better between DeMar and Victor. The trade was short of a young stud like SGA but had more swaps and less picks. Honestly looking back I think the Thunder got more for PG than the Rockets got for James. This was a lot of cost savings and a lot of hope to sell.

People were saying the same thing when Boston traded KG and Pierce to Brooklyn.

It worked out gangbusters for them. Will this one work out as well? Probably not but it's something to sell the fans.

They need to find a way to keep most of the picks and get a young star like MPJ or even Tyler Herro.

Picks aren't low until they are low...

Looks like a lock that 2022 picks will be low

2024, 26 BKN picks? Could be lotto? Who knows.
25/27 swaps? Who knows. Could be interesting?

A season between now and 2027 where the Nets have horrendous injuries could happen. And the big 3 will age and decline and need to be broken up at some stage.

What if it is a top 5 pick in 26 and 27, and we are a contending team, having rebuilt via cap space cleared and young talent acquired.

Way too early to moan about all the picks being low.

Westbrook is completely washed dude. Do you not realize he’s missed more games than John Wall this year due to injury? How are people unaware of this? We also got a draft pick out of the deal, albeit heavily protected. But Wall > Westbrook by a country mile

I like how people just assume the Nets will be good forever.

IMO the Rockets have only made one clearly terrible trade in the last few years...but it was really f**king bad.
