It's not just that he's conned the owner into maintaining his $3+ million dollar per year salary. It's that he's somehow connived his way into some "executive vice president" position that is supposed to have NOTHING to do with the football ops side of things, and yet at the same time when he felt like the usual process of hiring a GM--by identifying the most capable candidates based on, oh you know, their qualifications and recent success in making important player personal decisions--was going to lead to a hire that would place him at risk of losing, he hijacked that process and got on a jet with McNair to go to Boston and seal the deal on a hire that was completely independent of that process.

No matter what Cal says, he is having a big impact in making personnel decisions in the organization. And his batting average is pretty much 0.000. The Hopkins, Clowney, Tunsil, and Cooks trades. The Mercilus extension. Pretty much every awful move that BOB did was greenlit by this weasel. Free agents and capable coaches and GM's are actively avoiding the franchise because of his backstabbing ways.

I've never been that fond of the Texans because the McNairs always sounded like they were trying to turn the organization into the most favored option for MAGA fans (or whatever MAGA was pre-Trump) around the country. But this is sad. It basically means a permanent severance between my allegiances and football in Houston. Which is fine, you know, because Drayton tried to do the same thing to the Astros in 2006 and look what you get, when the whole team is white and huddled up in waspy evangelical prayer circles before each game. Some of the worst products on the field that the sport has ever seen.

Good riddance. If Watson goes, may the Texans and their hardcore fans continue to enjoy year after year of losing. So much losing. They'll be so sick and tired of losing. :)

Then do that, I'm sure they're fun.

And don't ever tempt me to take you off the ignore list again.

    From the SI article...

Instead, the answer came Friday in a report from the Houston Chronicle. “No,” McNair told the newspaper, when asked whether he would fire Easterby, adding that he did not believe he would resign. The article said that while Caserio will oversee roster-building, Easterby will handle other football operations, including “strength and rehab, medical, nutrition—anything involving the non-business side of the operation.”

Why on earth are players going to feel comfortable with the character coach / pastor being in charge of these critical things about their health and NFL futures?

This has not changed, literally, since at least last October when B'OB got fired. The article I posted said basically the exact same thing.

And people wonder why the players are a bit pissed?

This Easterby stuff brought me back to the forum for the first time in awhile, but it's nice to see the same terrible creatures are still on here spewing their verbal diarrhea.

How is Easterby qualified to be in any of those roles? Asking for trouble when a guy who has lied on his resume JUST TO GET WHERE HE"S AT is now given truly accountable positions when no accountability will ever be placed at his feet.

Guy should be team chaplain - thats it.

Did they storm the building in search of Easterby? Maybe still his laptop evidence on Cal McNair?

Easterby is basically your run of the mill mega church pastor type functioning and applying his methods within football operations. He needs to work for Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland or Joel Olsteen. Get away from the this organization
