So, sit our vets for no reason, refuse to see how the vets and young guys play together, create a toxic environment, and destroy our chances at landing quality FAs despite strong cap flexibility, all for the slight chance at drafting a Top 4 rookie who may never pan out? Yeah, no thanks.
I don't think Wood, Wall, Oladipo and the other vets are going to be ok with that. They didn't come here to lose games and just tank.
Often overlooked during a rebuild is key players getting used to losing, forgetting how to win. You have to avoid that otherwise you get stuck in a perpetual rebuild. It's why I always prefer reload mentality. This team scratching and clawing their way to a lower seed would be a great mission to take on that has some momentum to build with.
I said trade the vets that have value for more picks. I have no interest in going back to the middle of the pack Kevin Martin years. We haven’t done a full rebuild in a lot of the posters life time. I’m all in on a full rebuild.
If it’s the young guys doing that I’d be ok with it. If it’s the vets on this team with the most PT, that wouldn’t be my preference.
Okc has literally showed you the blueprint. Cp3 was a negative asset that required us to spend a load of picks to dump. One playoff push and good showing later okc got assets back for him. We need to do the exact same thing with Wall.
I guess it’s going to come down to what we could get for Oladipo and Tucker and what it will cost to unload Gordan. If we could get A guy like Herro or Precious and expiring for Oladipo I’d do it. Even if we still don’t get top four we get to build with good young assets and be in position to tank next year for a for sure lottery pick. My view is that Wall and Wood and the youngsters don’t make you a playoff team and I really don’t see the point of a 7th or 8th seed. It will still be fun watching the youngsters compete.
In a perfect world, this would be ideal. Getting out of that contract and getting assets would be perfect. CP3 played most of the season, Wall is already hurt again.
People are underestimating Oladipo's talent and also the boost his positive energy will bring to the locker room.
I got you bro, but want to build a winning environment here. Similar to the Lakers, Heat, Spurs. If you didn't have Wood, Wall, Oladipo on the team I would agree with your take. If we didn't have to give OKC our pick this year more than likely I would agree with your take. If the championship wasn't up for grabs like I think it MIGHT BE this year I would agree with your take (I seriously doubt we could even win a ship this year but I think you still gotta see what these guys are capable of, who knows).
I’m all for upping the value of Wall and Dipo, that’s just beneficial to us. If we’re going to trade Dipo at the dead line I could see it. And we do need to see if Wall can get his value back up.
The only one that matters there is Wood, he’s young enough to be a part of a rebuild. The others should be assets.
