Even in their 1st album with Fred de Wilde before Mariska Veres replaced him, Robbie van Leeuwen's already an interesting guitarist and songwriter.

The legacy of Camaron de la Isla lives on!

Incidentally, one of the girls above looks like Marisol, a Spanish child star in the 60s.

The Strokes - The New Abnormal

I like it. Obviously not at the level of their first two, but not many are. Compares favorably to solid 80s new wave records.

I have sort of a side project that's important to me. I'm putting together a playlist and I'm trying to find something similar nearly identical that can follow the song below. I know it's rather New Agey and probably not something popular with most here, but if whoever reads this can think of something specific that sounds like it could have come off the same album please let me know. Otherwise, don't let me derail things. ;)

That could be a thematic variation of Arto Tuncboyaciyan's song "They Love Me from Fifteen Feet Away."

    Arto + Marc Johnson, 1992

Arto + Al Di Meola, 1993

Wouldn't you know, Amazon doesn't have the first song you posted. They do have the shortened 1:24 opening though, which I really, really like. It's not a seamless fit, but I'm going to find a place for it. Maybe before. (The more songs I add the harder it gets to make them all mesh.)

I found a couple more songs from Arto Tuncboyaciyan's huge and very diverse catalog that I like as well. Thank you for sharing. I had never heard of him and I doubt very much I would have come across him on my own.

Marc Johnson is going to take me even longer to get through, but many albums I can rule out quickly.

    Thanks again!

Changed out my ipod - said goodbye to Grunge, Southern Rock, Indie, and Brit Pop/Alternative British Bands (including Madchester and Shoegazing) - kept free jazz and reggae and added my favorite genre of them all....post-punk! I also threw in synth pop and '70s electronic stuff.

Dick Hyman - Moog: The Electric Eclectics of Dick Hyman
    Wire - 154
