Sociopathic Libertarian ****s can't explain this away. Bu-bu-buhh Big government shouldn't even be doing vaccinations!
Anyone associated with Operation Warp Speed should be investigated and prosecuted it proven that they slowed the distribution of vaccinations. That includes Mike Pence.
No surprise but hospitals are running out of vaccines. https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-borough...d-19-vaccination-appointments-due-to-shortage Mt. Sinai Cancels COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments Due to Shortage By Michael Scotto New York City UPDATED 1:25 PM ET Jan. 15, 2021 PUBLISHED 5:05 PM ET Jan. 14, 2021 NEW YORK - Mount Sinai says it is canceling COVID-19 vaccination appointments until the middle of next week due to a shortage of vaccines. In a statement, the hospital network said appointments from Friday, January 15 through Tuesday, January 19 would not take place. "We will inform our patients when more vaccine supplies become available and reopen vaccination appointments for eligible patients," spokesperson Lucia Lee said in a statement. "For anyone with appointments scheduled after Tuesday, we will provide updates as soon as we know more." The shortage comes as the state has expanded the number of people who are eligible to receive the shot. Both Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio have warned the current supply can't meet the demand. “We will run out of vaccine next week in New York City,” de Blasio said Friday on WNYC. “The supply should go to where there is an infrastructure to get it into people’s arms. We know there is supply in this country not being used.” The mayor said that as of Friday the city had less than 186,000 first doses left. NYU Langone tells NY1 that while it is not canceling appointments, it is not scheduling new ones. "We will not schedule an appointment for a vaccination unless we have a confirmed dose in hand or know it will be shipped," the hospital said. Montefiore says they have not canceled any vaccine appointments at their Bronx hospitals. The rollout of the vaccine has been marked by confusion over eligibility and the sign-up process.
Not a surprise that the previous administration was blind to supply and allocations given how they promised something that was so far off, they continue to come up shorts on supplies to states and in the last week, they completely ran out of reserve when they thought they had some. ‘Worse Than We Imagined’: Team Trump Left Biden a COVID Nightmare (yahoo.com) The Biden administration came into power with purpose and an extensive agenda to combat the coronavirus pandemic, but purpose and planning only gets you so far—particularly when the president’s team is only just now getting a clear picture of how badly the previous administration had managed the crisis. “What we’re inheriting from the Trump administration is so much worse than we could have imagined,” Jeff Zients, the Biden administration’s COVID-19 czar, said in a call with reporters Wednesday. “We don't have the visibility that we would hope to have into supply and allocations.” “I think we have to level-set expectations,” added Tom Frieden, the former director for the Centers for Disease Control in the Obama administration. “There are lots of things that an incoming administration can do on Day One, including speaking honestly about the pandemic.”
Just a tad misleading: 1/3 of patients who were hospitalized at some point return to hospitalization within five months. (Sorry, just a big difference versus everyone who recovered.) On vaccines and politics: I had an interesting conversation with a biologist who leads an infectious disease institute and she was ranting about our overall systems and their stupidity. So while we can blame the executive branch leadership, in some ways rightly, she points to a rigid medical bureaucracy at all levels. To her, it seems way too much of our vaccine roll-out involves fear of lawsuits. She knows of retired doctors willing to come out of retirement to administer shots, but hospitals tell them, "you'll have to take the official training for liability reasons," etc. (To be fair, these vaccines are a little different. For some of you who've had one, maybe you could comment? One oldster I know said they really make sure to inject it into the muscle on the back of your arm. The muscle apparently does the early legwork to start producing the mRNA or whatever that will then fight the virus!) I'm kind of dismayed at the whole operation. I know two middle-aged people who have no business needing a first wave vaccine who've gotten them, one by mistake at his work, the other a pencil pusher working at home for a large hospital collective. Meanwhile, I have no idea when my octogenarian relatives will be able to receive vaccines. Grrr.
