It's hard to stomach anyone saying that garbage. After all he has done for our country? OMG. He stirred up the most hate groups since the days of the KKK. He sat back watching millions of Americans die. He's a psychopath.

This is one of the things that gets me about how many people don't understand the nature of our government.

We are a democratic republic which means that yes our representatives are elected but they aren't just meant to be parrots or the constituents.

Yes elected officials need to heed what their constituents say but that doesn't mean that they follow the loudest voices. Their duty and oath is to the Constitution and that means following that even if constituents don't like it. Yes that might mean that they lose reelection but that is the risk of leadership and accountability.

For all of the venality and self-serving we've seen the last four years one of the bright spots was when Rep. Justin Amash came out for the first impeachment. He was a Republican, member of the Freedom Caucus from a district that Trump carried easily. Rather than just going along with that most of his constituents didn't want Trump impeached, falling on the excuse that his party was against it, or ducking from his duty to his constituents instead he faced them in a townhall and explained why he was for impeachment. That is what true republican leadership looks like and what every single member of Congress should aspire too.

Great point. At any time, we rely on our elected officials to do what is legally and morally correct. To act with integrity. That hasn't happened the last four years.

I think some or a lot of Repubs won't show on the grounds that they can't impeach a former president. That will lower the quorum and margin for conviction.

If they can’t it’s a moot point, and should vote to sho support of not tolerating a Trump-level racist right movement, correct?

This is like the “wake up call to Republicans”. It really took you this long to realize Guiliani is a bad lawyer?
