I just don't think Wall will be around for that long. If he demonstrates a good ability this year and maybe next Then he will be Traded. Meanwhile - Wood should be here for a while. His development will set the table of the Rockets for at least the next 4 years The Question is who to put around him. WHICH ROCKETS HAVE POTENTIAL I like Tate. I think he can be alot better and has the mentality to improve I would like to lock him up long time with a small contract so he can out play it. I like BROWN and NWABE as well. I think getting players like this on longer cheaper contracts will allow them to eiher grown beyond their contract OR be very attractive trade pieces. Some of the Incoming players look good but I cannot say until I watch them I am a ROCKETS FAN I am a HARDEN FAN I wish him well . . . but like when Francis left. . . . I will support them both Unless Harden is playing the Rockets. . .then he on his own Which Current Rockets do you think have long term potential Rocket RIver
Wall out in a year? Yes, let's keep the high turnover on the team. That has always helped team culture.
Wall is going to be a Rocket until the summer of 2023. That's just reality because no one in their right mind will trade for him and give us something/someone useful in return, even if he's back to pre-injury John Wall. And I'm fine with that because I like Wall on this team moreso than Westbrook. I'm hoping Wood continues to grow and makes the leap by the end of the year now that Harden's not around. Not only for the team's sake but I like a feel good story.
I don’t think Walls contract is tradable. I think he’s a rocket for 3 years. Unless he shows he can be an all star PG again, but I just don’t see it from him.
If Wall can remain healthy, I'd love to see him retire in HOU. He may not always have the athleticism, but he has high basketball IQ and a young PG would learn a lot backing Wall up. For the right price, of course.
Where does this obsession with players' retirement plans come from? I do not give a darn where he retires.
There are no long term Rockets. They are all assets. Rewind to post-Yao/pre-Harden. Don’t buy any jerseys. Clutch: “I don’t think they have anything, maybe Christian Wood?, anything that says this is our foundation for the future.”
That wooden wall is moldy, gonna have to come out. @Rocket River this is not the 1990's, Les the Antitank Mine is not the owner, it's purgatory until fortune strikes again.
There is no foundation. There isn't a single player on the roster capable of being a top 10 player in the league, not to mention a top 3-5 player which is usually what is needed to win a title. At most 1-2 of the players currently on the Rockets will still be on the team in two years and that will be because their contracts are not easy to move. The Rockets had their chances with Harden, it almost worked but it didn't work...... so now the Rockets are going to go back out and try to find another top 5-10 player in the league..... with a rookie GM, a rookie coach, a very thin scouting department, an out dated organization and an owner that is having financial problems.
It will be hard to be a Harden fan until he leaves BKLN. Our future is tied to his performance until then. Glad I wont have to defend him anymore.
Thread title: "Start of the Wood-Wall era" First sentence of OP: "I don't think Wall will be around long." lol
I will be watching for Wall's High IQ He is such a different player than CP3 So it looks different . .. . .that was I saw in CP3 I think TATE and NWABA can become SOLID Rotational/borderline Starter players. I think they are on WOOD's time line. All young and can work for 3 yrs PJ and Eric Gordon - Their Timeline is NOW. Unless they cool with just getting paid . .. they can stay around and mentor the youngsters on being professionals otherwise What can we get in trade for them? Rocket River
The Wooden Wall Era has begun. It will not be nearly as interesting, successful, or dramatic as the Harden era.
INCOMING ROCKETS: Dante Exum - 6'5 214 lbs Rodions Kurucs - 6'9 228 lbs Victor Oladipo - 6'4 213 lbs Kurucs - seems like he maybe a bit thin like Wood. Don't know enough about him to say . .. but I like the Height. Seems everyone wants to flip Oladipo or let him walk for nothing this summer. Exum - Is this starting Shooting Guard potential? I don't know I want to see how he plays Rocket River
