You're kidding yourself if you think Harden and Irving weren't talking before this trade happened. The only reason the Nets were a trade candidate was because Harden wanted them to be.

Does this mean we don't have to eat as much shrimp at Landry's now?

Will James be embraced as a victim in the public eye outside of this city after being villainized for so long or does this thrust him further into the vitriol?

Because having him would cost $4 million, and not having him is free.

You are kidding if you think I am not aware of that. I am sure you might be new to life and NBA but just because people talked about something doesn't mean when they get there they wont conflict. Everyone that became the number 2 to Harden was probably approved by Harden and Harden was talking to them. Just because they agree now doesn't mean it will end up great later.

This. I wish we kept LaVert + Allen. Move Wood to the 4 spot. Actually having more than one guy over 6'5 seems appealing to me.

You are saying it like we have a choice in this matter? We are going to suck that's just reality

If the Nets are worse than us in any year that we own a swap, we get to switch picks with them.

for the 2021 and 2023 seasons, they probably won’t be used. But in 2025 and 2027, it’s entirely possible that we are swapping for top 10 picks.

The team holds the right to swap picks in the same round.
Can't swap a 2nd rounder for a 1st, but could make for some intriguing situations should the Nets falter.
Both on the pick front and for trades.

We HAD a choice is the point. Could have swapped for a decent caliber player rather than tanking which works less than 10% of the time.

The actual player haul was non-existent. It's almost like they didn't care about getting real players back as part of the deal from a team that had a bunch of good young players, one of whom we traded to Indiana.

Harden made up his mind to leave before season started.

We traded our star player who is at the end of his prime for four first round picks. This is a cycle that every teams encounter.

I am excited for the rebuild.

There are still quality players in that class. Doesn’t have to be a major star. Guys like Jrue holliday or Drummond. Rockets are thinking long term in a paradigm shift apart from the past of giving up assets. A lot of you think now. What can we get now. There really wasn’t a player out there that could be a main star centerpiece. Simmons is tempting but that would tie the Rockets up with another max contract along with walls. Not a flashy deal but one that focuses on long term assets and complete rebuild. Harden era is over so it’s time to move to another direction. Pretty simple.

dont be so sure. Its true the Nets starting five might just be the best in the world. Their selfishness will be their undoing
