This is now “his” team. He’s talented and young enough to become a core championship piece. Now that we don’t have the pressure of winning immediately, I’m excited to see his development on both ends of the court.

25 ppg, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks and making an all-star team (even if the actual game isn’t played) is absolutely on the table for this season.

The goal is to get 3 core championship pieces. Here’s to hoping Wood is the 1st in this new era.

I agree. He is the only bright spot in the mess that we have left. I think we are playing him at wrong position. He shouldn't be playing center. Instead, he should be utilized more like KD where he primarily plays SF spot and occasionally plays PF.

I’m willing to be patient with his defensive development. He has the skillset to be a good perimeter defender AND rim protector...just need to give him time to figure it all out. Consider how patient we were with Capela.

He needs a better PnR partner than Wall.

Too bad we did not get Dinwiddie.

Hopefully Wall keeps him as involved as James did.

Agreed. I think people are also sleeping on the potential of a Wall/VO backcourt. I’d actually be pretty excited if we would have landed Allen as well to complement Wood.

Self motivate to play good defense on a lotto team in empty arenas in a comically disrupted pandemic season.

I know I'm betting the over!

Well hope he doesn’t demand a trade this summer. Seems like everyone wants out of Houston.

I just hope Wood is not the guy Wall was talking about... He has dream potential if he buys in.

I still don't know if he's an empty stats guy or not.

He is. He gives up more points on the other end. Doesn’t give a crap about defense.

    Those are the minimum numbers.
HE HAS to start adding more bulk to hold his spot on the block.

Honestly, I hope so. Since he's in my fantasy team.

I'm real worried about Wall's seeming inability to get Wood the looks Harden did.

The couple of alley-oops Wall have thrown to Wood have been downright disgusting and embarrassing for any PG - let alone someone as good as Wall.

He's 25. I like the optimism and I would like nothing more for him to get there... but at 25... I don't believe he's suddenly going to get the IQ on the defensive end.

He really is that bad underneath the basket. As an utterly atrocious offensive player but made representative teams based on my defense - it really irks me when I see bad defenders. And the lights flash multiple times a game for Wood :(

Without Harden, buckets are going to come as easy for Wood. Hope that jumper starts falling more consistently for him.

he’s been kind of a late bloomer, so i think it’s possible there’s still room there. Defense generally improves with experience and familiarity...he’s brand new to being the anchor. Let’s see if he can do it.

That's a good point. And I also believe others are right when they say he should be the PF as opposed to the C.

I'm rooting for the guy, I'm just tempering expectations on that side of the ball.
