Is wood likely to be a part of a championship team in houston? No. Does he make us marginally better? Of course. does marginally better the next 3 years get us closer to our desired destination? No. So why do we want to rebuild around him? So we can be the Orlando Magic/Indiana Pacers of the West and keep coming in bottom half of the playoffs and lose in the first round? Embrace the logic. Lunow showed you the way. Morey wanted to do it. Hinke did do it and then had it snatched away from him when it was starting to work. mediocrity is death if you want to win a title. Embrace the suck.
I get where you’re going here but TiLLLLman will not embrace a full tank especially when revenue is on the line when TC can be sold out again.
There's no reason to think that a 27 year old Wood just coming into his prime wouldn't be the PERFECT fit on a roster full of (potentially) young talent. I'm confused by the OP.
The OP is typical CF fan chicken little who thinks everything that happens to the Rockets sucks and everything that happens to other teams is the best.
Wood isn't just "marginally better" he is a steal given his contract. He is worth more than a low lotto pick and provides better value than one. Having him around is like you "tanked" for a low lotto pick already and at his age of only 25 yrs old he is young enough to be around when the rebuilding process is done. Hinkie sucking was in the old draft rules after The Process they changed it so the top picks are random. Even if you bottom out there's little to no guarantee you will get a top pick for your troubles.
It’s a depressing time to be a rockets fan. This wilderness is going to be long and painful. The logic is you Year it down to the studs.
He listened to his star. That was stupid, yes. The Westbrook trade was a gamble based on how bad CP3 looked in year-two. Harden wanted Westbrook. Do we have ANY reports on why DM left? Or just pure rumors on this board?
There’s no reason to believe that there is any young toner coming non the next 2 years. There’s no reason to believe that young talent will be useful for winning basketball games for another couple years after that. There’s no reason to believe a 27 year old Wood, if he becomes a star, will resign with the Rockets. Y’all just saw it successfully done in this town by the astros. How many positive value Assets did the Astros have in 2011-13? NONE. The path to title contention doesn’t lie in being in contention for the play in tournament.
