so we gave them a 2nd round pick for a salary dump? You’d think the pacers would prefer LeVert who’s younger, more affordable and under team control. Just curious why Stone gave them the cherry?

 

LeVert is two years younger with no significant injury history, cheaper, and with near identical stats to Oladipo in a reserve role.

I’m not gonna lose sleep over a 2nd round pick just trying to grasp the logic.

 

With this new foundation of picks, hopefully we can find the next Steph and Klay..

Oladipo and LeVert are not comparable in my eyes. LeVert doesn't get to the line, has had a below average TS% for his whole career, and isn't a good defender. Oladipo is just flat out the better player. That's not even mentioning the fact that the Rockets have more flexibility going into the deadline and summer with Oladipo.

 

I thought it was the Cleveland pick via Milwaukee, not the other way around.

I get ya. Whether it’s the name recognition, track record, or proven ability to be the best player on a playoff team, I think the front office just thought he was a better fit.

I do think the Pacers end of this is clear. They thought Oladipo was gone, and got a decent replacement locked up for 3 years.

Resigning him isn’t off the table either. Not my favorite option, but if you told me we could go from Harden to Oladipo and a massive return of picks, that’s not so bad.

 

If the Rockets can keep their pick in the next draft (top four protected), the future may be bright.

The Rockets aren’t necessarily trying to be very good for the next few years. There’s no reason to pay Levert when you’re probably tanking. There are some options in play with Oladipo and his contract.

I don’t like Tillman but I don’t think he made Stone operate with money savings in mind when trading the absolute best asset they had. The Nets deal was what Stone saw as the best deal for the future.

 

Flexibility means nothing in this situation. And Oladipo also has below average TS% as well. They both suck at this point. We could do better with Lavert, instead we had to compensate Indiana for Oladip and giving them Lavert LOL.

 

I forget our '21 is 1-4 protected. Basketball God's please bless us with Cade.

 

Levert has actually been injured a decent bit. Oladipo is more of a lottery ticket. If he can break out and recapture his pre-injury form he'll have value at the deadline or his bird rights will have value either for us or in a S&T.

Levert kind of is what he is. A decent reserve scorer to get buckets at below average efficiency when he's simultaneously on the court with scrubs at a decent, but not great, cap number who also has somewhat of an injury history.

 

Now, I understand the Lavert flip. I like LaVert but a 1 year, let's see what Oladipo has makes sense now! Who is on the free agent wish list for next year?

Hoping Oladipo plays well only to move him again THIS YEAR makes a lot of sense too.

 

That's not going to happen. He's already started out this yeaer scoring at a mediocre clip tbh.

 

Considering how bad this team is and how many players the Rockets have already traded, this is a laughably bad bucket of draft assets. The Rockets are going to be terrible this year and end up picking in the 20s. No good picks - other than their own - until possibly 2024.

You really had to have tried to dreadfully mismanage what was a great situation in 2018. Well done.
