10 House Republicans are not enough. If inciting an insurrection is not worthy of impeachment and removal your party leader, what is? 197 republicans voted no. Most of the House GOP voted that the election was stolen. Some actually believe the election was stolen and their constituents look to these people as their compass so they too say it was stolen. It’s a conspiracy feedback loop that is going to warp the GOP and lead to the destruction of the United States as we know it. Rather than hearsay and rumor, we know Trump tried to use innuendo to pressure Ukraine to investigate Biden once it became clear Biden was the leading candidate. Trump called for vote counting to stop. Once he was behind, he called for absentee ballots to not be counted. He asked the GA Secretary of State to “find” the votes. He and his administration denied losing and said they were looking forward to their second term. They sued all the states they could and lost in court while making claims that were disproven. His new MAGA allies in the house hosted Proud Boy allies and took them through the congress before last Wednesday. On the day the congress was set to authorize the electoral votes, he tells his supporters he is going to March with them to the capitol and that they should not show weakness. The MAGA mob assaults the capitol during the counting. Calls for more security are initially denied. President tells them thank you. Vice President is actively being targeted due to his stance on the election being legitimate. Here is the rub. If the election was stolen, then democracy is over. But the evidence is not there. If there are coup attempts with support by government officials, and these officials are allowed to act in the open, then our democracy is over. And we are watching it play out. Either way, dark days ahead.
No they don't love their country any more than a fundamelist commits mass murders in the name of Jesus. The country they say they love , has the executive attack the legislative with no repreccursion. Coups are justified or excused and quickly sweeped under the rug. It is not the real country, a Republic with the rule of law.
No where enough. GOP is a disgrace to the country and democracy. They are all traitors. History will not be kind to them. Remember every single one that did not vote yes to impeach after an attack on our government.
Yeah I talked to an attorney friend of mine, a pretty hard Republican who tries to equate Pelosi's tearing up Trump's State of the Union more or less with Trump's call to attack the Capitol.
