I just really don’t want any “established” players that make us good now, but don’t set us up for the future. If we trade Harden, we aren’t winning anything for a minimum of 2 years. So whatever established vet you are thinking of will either be on his last year, or his contract will have expired by then. Just not worth it in my opinion. Picks and high upside youth, likely on rookie deals. I’m open to guys like Anunoby and Brown, but only with young players and picks coming with them, which those teams may not be open to.
he’s border line at best. Get from under his contract and use money to get a actual cornerstone or better fit. Lavine has kinda underachieved in Chicago. You actually get 3 for one.
Does this indicate a total tank? LeVert, Allen and Dinwiddie are good players. This sounds like Houston just wants a million picks and to tank rather than be mediocre.
Rebuild Rockets/Heat Harden, Nwaba, KJ Martin for Herro, Robinson, Achiuwa, Olynk, (salary) Rockets/Wolves Tucker for Culver, Reid, McLaughlin Rockets/Sixers Gordon, House for Green, Maxey, Thybulle New Rotation: Wall/Maxey/McLaughlin Herro/Green/Mclemore Robinson/Culver Achuiwa/Olynk Wood/Reid/Cousins + some picks and PROBLEMS = SOLVED
If we end up with 3-4 picks and 2 young, high upside prospects, I’m a happy camper. The interplay in the East is interesting. Whoever gets Harden is likely the favorite. Their packages are pretty similar.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yxag7mlo 3 Way with Philly and Boston Rockets get JB, Smart, Thybulle, Maxey.. 2 First frm Philly, 2 First frm Boston Boston get Simmons, Tucker Philly get Harden
i think it means prospects and picks. Not sure it leads to a total tank. One interesting potential outcome...Miami needs OKC to adjust the protections on their picks to deal us more total picks. OKC also has the right to swap with our pick, protected 1-4. What if we forced Miami to deal whatever is necessary in order to allow us to adjust our protection to like 1-10, thus allowing us to tank without risk. Just a thought...lots of interplay here.
Not a Kyrie trade. Dinwiddie, Allen, LeVert, Prince is the main concept I believe. PJ Tucker included as well. He's on Harden's side of the locker room. Some things to remember - Houston is hard capped and pretty much has to reduce salary in the trade. If our pick isn't top 4, it's getting swapped with the least favorable of OKC and MIA. Landing at the 5th spot would be disaster. We also don't control 2024, 2025, or 2026 1st round picks. It's an awful spot to be in for a long term rebuild. Maybe keep LeVert and flip the others? I don't really know what will happen, but I do expect it to be BKN or PHI.
I just dont see what talented player Houston could get by shipping Dinwiddie, LeVert and Allen to a 3rd team - especially when that team might be able to get Allen for free in the summer. That wasn't enough to get Jrue Holiday if the rumours are to be believed.
I still think at the end of the day that DM dangles Simmons+ to get James. Nobody will like their chances in the East with James on another team. James-Embid with their remaining role players is the favorite. James-Kyrie-Durant waltzes through that conference. James-Tatum is also a nightmare matchup for Philly or Brooklyn for that matter. Each of these teams should be played against one another to get a haul.
4 team: HOU - BRK - ATL - PHI (works on tradenba) BRK: Harden (HOU) ATL: Dinwiddie (BRK) + Prince (BRK) + House (HOU) + HOU / MIA 2021 1st + BRK 2022 1st PHI: Tucker (HOU) + Clemons (HOU) HOU: Levert (BRK) + Collins (ATL) + Allen (BRK) + Thybulle (PHI) + Kurucs (BRK) + gang of picks & swaps from BRK Wall - EGo - BMac Levert - Brown - Tate Thybulle - Nwaba - GGreen Collins - Allen - Kurucs Wood - Boogie - Cabocolo I.haz.a.sad (edit: forgot Tate)
Philly also includes FRP’s and swaps We get MPJ and Maxey to build around. Green (this year) and Barton (next year) are playable expiring contracts. Bradley is a playable throw-in. Philly gets their guy Denver goes all-in
They need to give Wood more freedom, he might pan out to be something great. Move him to the power forward position, then start Cousins at Center. Trade PJ Tucker and Eric Gordon. Let's move on from the Harden era players.
Such a let down. Years of thinking one player or move would make us a championship team. Now back to the lottery and dreaming.
Main trade scenarios now need to revolve around A. dumping Ego for expirings. B. Sending Tucker to a contender for assets (but only if expirings return)
