Funny thing about Andre's comments is I don't remember the team being half as gobsmacked with stupidity as they are right now. Questionable moves, sure, but not on the doorstep of a town wide mutiny
Jack was suppose to be sent out the door along with O’Brien but Cal felt like he needed someone on the operations side for the rest of the season. Well now Caserio is here now do what you should of done already and relieve Easterby of his duties. And if you can’t bring yourself to do it let Caserio do it.
The clear message is Cal needs to wake up bc he's making a mistake by keeping Easterby around. Sean P put it well when he said this:
One of them owns the team and the other runs the team (if you believe reports)... so it is about the Texans
I think the consensus isn't that Cal is a bad dude, or hates his fans, or that he wants to run his father's team into the ground. It's more along the lines of Cal is being blinded by the specter of Jack Easterby. Most Texans fans are applauding this, and it's not bc the overlying message is taken as "**** the Texans nobody should play for that ****." It's more like: "Dammit Cal get your **** together and stop letting this charlatan destroy your team."
Which is why a culture change was needed after O'Brien. Which is why it makes no sense to desperately hang on to a guy O'Brien brought in and double (triple?) down on the New England thing. Hence the Deshaun tweet. We needed a real change and all we've gotten thus far is more of the same.
Caserio has to find a way to appease Watson before he demands a trade publicly to ignite another firestorm. And there’s also the issue with unhappy defensive end J.J. Watt, who’s entering the last year of his contract and may ask for a trade. Can you imagine if Watt elects not to lay low and weigh in on Easterby and what’s happening in the organization? Contributing to the Texans’ disfunction could be the departure of respected team president Jamey Rootes, which would enflame corporate Houston as well as the Texans’ sponsors, suite holders and season ticket holders who have supported the franchise since its inception.
or you could widen your aperture and see that the blundering decision-making in the front office precipitates all these grievances in the first place. so go ahead and blame the players for not understanding the impacts of their actions in response to those blunders, just don't forget to blame the decision-makers who keep making awful decisions that actually brought this about for not understanding how awful their decisions are too.
Watson Harden gonna be talking after the game "Hey bro, let's discuss some tips to get ourselves traded out of Houston."
Yeah Cal got by with the whole I needed someone on the operations side thing during the year. Now with Caserio here get rid of everything from the previous regime.
You have no idea what’s been done and said privately. The fact that all of this is spilling out publicly means quite a bit. This is all being brought about by tone deaf, incompetent Texans management.
