Because it's Harden's responsibility to cover up for the lack of skill on his teams, except ask for more talented players to be put around him. Nobody ever ask PJ Tucker to cut. No one ask why doesn't Eric Gordon shoot mid-range shots. It's all about Harden.
This would be a great thing I think Wall maybe works better with Boogie and Harden will Wood Rocket River
So far it doesn't look like Harden is playing off the ball. It's look like Harden has fewer touches, so fewer shots, so less efficiency
I think this is the confusion many people have, especially Harden fans. You assume that playing off ball means deferring. By that logic, the number one option of any team must be the PG. Hakeem didn't hold the ball all the time. Was he deferring?
Some on here really want James Harden, one of the greatest ISO and on-ball players ever, to come off of pindowns because...John Wall. LMAOOO. You really can't make this **** up.
Because Tucker cutting to do what exactly? A blocked shot or a kickout?..And asking EG to shoot mid- range means more thinking for him... I could see his goofy ass doing jump passes in midair leading to even more TOs..
It's not just John Wall. It's Chris Paul. It's Russell Westbrook. Beverley didn't have that problem because Bev is not a play making ball handler. CP3 worked okay because he was a good shooter. Putting a mediocre shooting play maker next to Harden when Harden ISOs most of the time makes no sense. You might as well bench Wall and play a spot up shooter instead.
That seems like a big front office issue to me. Might also be why Harden wants to get the f*ck out, no?
Neither of them are elite off ball players but wall is elite at absolutely nothing. Harden, like even lebron or ad, has his weaknesses, but at least he is an elite playmaker and the best scorer on the planet. Putting the ball in john walls hands turns our best player into a daniel house level do-nothing roleplayer while giving you a worse passer and shot creator instead Unlike chris paul or westbrook though, wall cant generate points to take the pressure off harden. Not even bringing up efficiency. He cant score. At all. Once every other week he will get you maybe 30 and 5 in a loss against another bottomfeeder. This is someone who struggled to put up chris paul numbers on russell westbrook shooting averages in a very very bad eastern conference. Wall is not by any means a bad player but he is not good enough to be taking away possessions from james harden. This is just a case of a bad fit multiplied by a severe lack of talent Maybe when Harden leaves, rockets fans will finally remember how valuable volume scoring in the nba really is
Notice DWIGHT was in the list People felt Harden should have passed to DWIGHT more in the post and wait and see what he did Wall and HArden need to be staggered more. . . . with HArden as the closer Rocket River
Is Harden deferring this drastically because it's coach telling him to? Is it the media for that short stint saying he needs to sacrifice? Cuz from every post game when Wall is asked about playing with Harden, he always states that he's here to help Harden "bc he's so great". At first, we thought it was his ankle injury. Now, it's him sacrificing his game to fit Wall's. I'd like to know if Harden is doing it for the team, or for himself ala "look, sacrificing to this personnel ain't working. i'm not a good fit here. get me out."
idc whose bringing it up - let em alternate or whatever if you need to... the key is that everybody is workin n hustlin whenever they are on the court - whether they got the ball or not.
You would think so right, it's common sense that the lesser player will defer to the better player? Then Silas starts complaining about players iso'ing too much and then we all know better.
